Hello friends,

What is the best charity to donate a car to? I have a car with high mileage and has been wrecked but is still drivable. I wanted to donate it to the cancer society but they no longer accept cars. What is the best charity to donate an older car to? Children's Wish Foundation - I looked up and some say it is a scam. I want the sale of the car to go to the charity, all of it. I know that if they want me to leave the title blank, then I have to look for another. Thank you in advance for your kind advice.

I would look into giving it to a woman's shelter. Or if you attend church I would speak with them and tell them you would like to donate it to a family in need at your church.

One of the really good ones in Wisconsin is the Rawhide Boys Ranch started by Bart Starr. They might be able to direct you to a similar organization in your area.

More than what I highlighted, you must have the title transfer processed officially with both them and you signing specifically in front of a Notary. Get a copy too. Go to a title processing outlet locally, charity rep in tow.

I had a work friend who had both signatures signed in the charity office, not notarized or submitted to the state. The car was subsequently in an accident with insurance coming after him!!!!! Took a lawyer and costs to straighten it all out. It took a year!
