Availability of high end models of the C7
When news of the C6 ZR1 was first announced, I decided that was the car I wanted. I called my local Chevrolet dealership and asked to place an order. I was told that there was a waiting list, which I understand. However, what I did not understand was that even if I ordered the car, I was told that I probably would not get it unless I agreed to pay at least $150k. I opted out. So, I didn’t buy and spent my money elsewhere. In the end, it didn’t matter, because it turns out that that particular dealership I was dealing with received zero allocation of the ZR1 that year.
Now, I await a top performance version of the C7 Corvette that will compete with other supercars, and I am willing to pay list price. But will I again be shutout by lack of inventory and/or dealers not selling the vehicle at list price? Probably so. But I'll wait and see.

Well, here is where I spent my money:

In hindsight, it was not the best decision as I am still waiting for the car to be finished years later. I should have waited for the ZR1 to come down in price, but that is water under the bridge now.

Anyone trying to buy a ZR1 within the first year of being released will know the issues. Anyone who came later will not...

Was anybody in this forum around when the C6ZR1 was released? Does anyone, other than me, remember the egregious markups on the ZR1 by the dealers when it was first released? If not, good for you. Now sit back and watch what happens when the next ZR1 (or whatever GM deems to call the top Corvette model) is released and you try to purchase it at list price within the first model year.

I opened the link. And question if you had the money to buy a ZR1 in the first place.
I remember what the dealers were marking up for the C6 ZR1. I also remember the mark-ups for the C6z06. You've gotta pay to play with the big dogs.
