Well this looks familiar...
So I've been following the C7 corvette like many others, but haven't gotten around to actually registering on here.... until now.
Earlier today I was reading a design article on a new "virtual" ride that is being launched by Disney and Chevrolet... odd match if you ask me, but there have been stranger...
Article: http://www.carbodydesign.com/2012/11...-virtual-ride/
well here's where the interesting part comes into play... in the concept artwork for this, I found two familiar looking things... one a car that very closely matches the Centennial Stingray concept (Far right side)
the centennial stingray (for reference, as if it's really necessary...)
and even more interesting was this... (right side, in red)
the first thing that caught my eye about this was that the tail lights and (being kinda loose with this) the overall design look to be similar to the coming C7 from what has been leaked so far
Just thought i'd throw this into the ring and see what everyone else thinks
Edit: just saw the centennial stingray in the second image on the far left... dunno how I missed that...

In the recently released tease video, there's a series of hand drawn sketches. And one of them corresponds to this red car.
None of the sketches feature round tail lights.

General motor and disney have actually been in partnership on this ride for a very long time. I think this recent opening is just a renovation of the old ride.

Funny you mention that. Last night I showed my wife the various leaked concepts/3D art work, etc of the rear end of the C7, and the first thing she said is that the Camaro. When she found out it was the rear of the C7 she shouted that's not a vette rear end. This from a woman who can not tell apart visually most Vettes. I told her not to worry, it will "grow" on you as it did me.
P.S. If GM did the rear diffuser and rear bumper area like the red one, I think it would help in making it look more uniquely Corvette.

Thanks, part of me felt like this was like grasping at straw but the red one struck me as being too similar to the concept of the c7 to be ignored...
in some of the earlier camo'd shots, the winter testing ones, (in my mind) I can somewhat see the shape of that rear end tucked away under the camo... honestly I hope that the rear end has a shape like that because that is very gorgeous, and it does kind of help the tail lights look better... in my opinion
Edit: Just realized that the rear end makes me think of the early C3 corvettes especially that back glass... or lack there of... which in all honesty wouldn't be bad to see, especially with a targa top

If aerodynamics are truly as much a part of the C7 styling consideration as has been suggested we may definitely see something that is "different" than the traditional 'Vette profile and other details. It may take some getting used to, as do most changes. I always like to look at the rejected concepts/clays that depict car models from the '50's and '60's and think what might have been had those been used. They may look odd now, but if the cars were actually produced that way their style would be accepted and our actual vehicle styles would appear odd if they were shown as rejects. A few more weeks and we'll know for sure!
