Ecologic
Probably will be flamed here, but I
proceed.
What is the deal with this Ecologic
stuff with the Auto Transmission?
Is it a golf cart effect, big lag
on take off, unable to switch off
tree hugger on the car? Any help
would be appreciated.
Yes I did a search.

a) not C7 related (yet)
b) nothing new, just now packaged as "EcoLogic"

A six-speed transmission allows the engine to operate at a lower rate of speed as compared to transmissions with fewer gears, which results in better fuel economy. Transmissions employ shift management technologies when maximum engine power is not required. When these technologies engage, engine workload is reduced, which contributes to better fuel economy. Manual transmission has skip shift technology (1st to 4th). Automatic transmission has 2nd gear start.

I know you can shut it off on the older M6 cars with a skip shift eliminator.
I had manuals in my C4 and C5 and never had any trouble with it.

Every Porsche auto does this, along with most other autos I'm aware off. ain't nothing unique to C7.

Seriously? Starting in second gear with all that torque bothers you? Use the paddles and start in first if you want to. You'll redline at 45 max, whereas 2nd gear gets you all the way to the speed limit and beyond.

kind of response. I don't own a Vette yet.
Shopping. Was hoping you all would
have input on if you feel it. Most beemers
have a lag and it bugs a lot of us.
Trying to avoid that kind of thing with a
purchase if possible.
Thx anyway.

I dont know anything about the system, but I know it didnt take long for people to find away around the skip shift in manual trans cars for the C5 and C6. Im suprised there isnt something available to eliminate it on the beemer you mentioned. I cant imagine it will interfere with the cars performance, this is a performance car after all. I imagine if there were ANY lag to it in high performance driving, that they will have a way to turn it off so they can lay claim to better numbers.

If you had asked this in the C6 forum you would get responses from actual owners. There are no C7 owners.

As to your questions though, to avoid it on manuel trans cars shift early into 2nd before 15mph, or hold 1st gear out to around 25mph.
Either way defangs skip shift every time. As the $green$ idiot alert only comes on under light enough throttle conditons. And in a narrow mph range.
Also, any tuner or seller of aftermarket tuning programs can easily eliminate it, whether stick or auto.
