Kappa - we're not bailing on the whole car - just the tail lights. Easily correctable by production and would make all the difference. The spoiler is also stupid but at least it's an option. The rest of the car is A++

The tail lights = not what Corvette fans wanted. They need to and can fix that.

Who gets to define what a Corvette fan is?

At least that way nearly half the *** isn't black. But I'm probably wrong.
I do believe that you, and others who want that rear "facia" panel the same color, won't want it once it's done. It'll make the rear end look HUGE. I've seen this done before, and even with "sculpting " lines, recesses, etc., it will look HUGE. Think about it a minute and you'll understand what I'm saying. That is a lot of height, width to have all in one color.

Too bad some are too stuck in their ways to realize it.
you name some great cars from a performance perspective...but what about styling and originality...when the C1-C5s first were unveiled, no one said, " that looks like a Camaro" or "resembles a Nissan" or "Dodge whatever", because C1-C5s were unique, and when people see them coming at them on the road, they instantly know its a vette, even non-car people.

I think in the past the vette offered worldclass performance of its respective era when compared to the competition, and today is no different.

When I was 15, about half the guys at my high school had posters on their walls (next to their Heather Locklear poster) of Trans ams or IROCS, Vettes...we dreamed about owning these cars someday. I doubt high school kids today have Cobalt SS /Regal GS posters on their walls. Its not all about 0-60 and skidpad times, its about styling also.

Heh, new to the thread. Has anyone mentioned those awful Camaro tail lights? Just curious.

FIREBIRD!!
The rear facia really does just suggests Firebird.
But they don't make Firebirds anymore so why not use an abandoned next gen Firebird rear to fundamentally change the design direction of the vette.

I see hardtop convertible rather than a rag top with this design.

The C5 and RX-7 definitely were compared, along with the Supra.

Those kids do have Camaro posters, which is why it outsold the Mustang for the first time this generation I believe.

I believe it would add too much weight but who knows.

Default Well been reading this today, and

Some have brought up good points.Yes it does smack of the Cadillac XLR. Now, how'd that work out?? There is no question it looks like a Camaro from the rear. And yes the body just has way too much going on. Remember the '58 Corvette? A whole lot going on compared to the "57. How long did it take to get most of it off? One year! Okay when the C2 came out I thought that style was the most beautiful car I'd ever seen. Still do. When the '68 came out I thought it was a beautiful car. Still do. When the '84 came out, it had a lot of interesting points, but it NEVER excited me. Still doesn't. Then the C5 came out, and I thought " This is really interesting" and it proved to be the most improved generation to that date. Then the C6. The first time I saw it I thought "Wow! That is really a beautiful car!" And I still think so. The proof is in the actual sales. Let's see how it goes. Time has proved my initial perception of each generation has ended up being correct. At this point I have reasons to believe that it will not be as successful throughout it's run as the C5 or C6. But, I'll sure be following to check it out.

The designers of the 60s Corvette are having an aneurizm at the moment, and Zora is rolling in his grave, ohh the humanity.

Beauty truly is in the eye of the beer-holder. I'm not feeling that one, sorry.
