Default C7 - As a Daily Driver or Week-end Ride Only?

Hi All,

If I trade in for a C7 it would be my daily ride.

I'm wondering are any of you guys/gals looking to purchase a C7 as
your only daily ride or do you have another car and the C7 would be your week-end pleasure car?

how many miles do you think you'll put on your C7 per year?

I drive Maybe 3,000 miles per year tops so it won't be that bad as my
daily.

Thanks
ELB

It can be whatever you want it to be.
In spring, summer and Fall my wifes C6 is her daily driver, mine is not.

My C5 has 13 years and 108,000 miles on it as my daily driver. It has taken the two of us on road trips across the country, to the local grocery store, and around the track at Sears Point. I would expect my replacement car to do the same.

I have a Yukon XL but my C6 Z06 is my daily driver.. Besides when I get my C7, I can't think of too many cars that are enjoyable to drive that get better milage. Heck, even my 505HP Z06 gets better milage than my wife's 2012 BMW X3 4 cylinder.

C7 will definitely be a daily driver for me or almost every day driver at the very least. Except of course when it rains because everybody knows Corvettes melt in the rain!

Daily driver. I'm one of the people who use the voluminous luggage space the Corvette has for my work. It's actually a pretty practical car.

My corvettes are always DDs and so will the C7 if I ever decide to buy one which won't be anytime soon.

Daily only if you don't live in the snow and ice belt. Do not drive this car in ice and snow ever!

Daily driver. I put about 8-9k miles per year on my Vette as a DD here in Tampa. Its much cheaper to own one car than two. Think of the depreciation alone. Lets say you lose 10k, 8k, 7k, 5k over the first four years of Vette ownership. That is 30k in depreciation over four years on the Vette. If your other car depreciates another 20k you have now lost 50k on two cars. I'd rather just lose the 30k than 50k. That is not even factoring in the loss of a parking spot or the need to insure both cars. Insurance is cheap for most of us so depreciation is the real cost of ownership.

DD here too. Has been on my previous three vettes. My philosophy is if you can't enjoy it often then no reason to own it....unless you have a ton of $$$ then that is another story. I could buy a beater and have a garage queen but I'd rather put a smile on my face twice a day to and from work. I'll probably put $8k/yr not including roadtrips to the Smokies and other destinations.

My $02

I won't be buying a C7 until the high-performance version is released in a few years. My ZR1 is my current DD (in all weather except snow), and it serves that purpose just fine. I see no reason why the C7 (in any trim) would be any different.

For those that say "Never drive this car in the snow!" give the folks at Blizzack and Pirelli a chance to whip up snows that'll fit the car. There will always be challenges with ground clearance and snow accumulation, but if your roads are decently plowed and you have a good set of snows on it car, it'll do just fine. A buddy of mine drives his base C6 all year long, including through the snow.

Definitely a daily driver, life is too short and you never know what can or will happen to you.

Reminds me when I was kid, this Dr. guy owned a Jaguar XKE, and he would wash and polish that car 2 times a week and ONLY drive it when it was sunny with blue clouds. He would drive that car once or 2 times a month if lucky. Then one day a kid who lived on the street lost control of his father 4 x4 (speeding) and smashed into the XKE that had been been waxed a few minutes ago. Jaguar was totaled. The Dr. was pissed and I recall him telling my father that he didn't even get to enjoy to drive the car.

Cars are meant to be driven and enjoyed. You worked hard to buy it enjoy the damn thing, and treat your wife or gf as the real queen, not the car.

My 7 year old c6 is a daily driver and my only car. Almost 90K on the clock. If I buy a C7 it too will be a daily driver.

It will take light snow without a problem. I live in sunny SoCal, but it was snowing the day I picked my 2008 up at the NCM:

And then some more in Carlsbad NM:

I put 113,000 total miles (about 15,000 miles track) on my C5 in 9 years. It was running great when I sold it. I drove my 2008 daily until I got the Volt in 2011. Now I commute on electricity and save the Vette for the open road. I still put about 1000 miles a month on the C6 Vette. My C7 will be the same.
