Default Any information on sound & noise insulation for the interior?

With all the improvements to the interior I wonder what GM has done to decrease wind, tire and excess noise from coming into the interior?

One thing which I believe might help is that a larger part of the rear wheel tubs might be more covered in the open cargo area on the coupe because of the C pillar, reduced width of the hatch cover and increased width of the top of the rear quarter panel to accomodate vents and ducting. Or, then again, maybe I am wrong. See the two pictures below of the cargo area in my C6 and in the C7.

GM is using an opposing sound producing system to cancel out various harmonics that are present in the c6..

Its really an amazing technology that we as corvette owners will be glad to have on the c7....

Two kinds of insulation for consideration, e.g., sound insulation and heat transfer prevention insulation.

According to Tadge, some of the insulation for the C7, used to keep heat out of the cabin, specifically from the center console tunnel, is purchased from Boeing Aerospace Division.

I am thinking that puts more material between the tire noise and the cargo area, thus reducing the tire noise heard inside the car.

thats great !!! if the extra weight on the C7 (3350lbs) comes from the insulation , thats one thing you can take out yourself when you purchase it

Well, one thing we can extrapolate for sure is that the c7 has at least 500 pounds more wiring, electronics, interior and and insulation than an early c4....

Uhh, no we can't. We cannot extrpolate anything until Chevrolet announces the actual curb weight of the production C7.

Ditching the Crapyears for Michelins will be a huge bit of it. My ZR1 is much quieter than my Z06 was stock and the main thing I note as missing is tire noise. I passionately dislike Goodyear, their tires are horrible.

What??? What are you comparing? We don't have any numbers on C7 yet.

It's the same thing Acura has put in their upper end cars for 5-6 years. It does help. It is a sound wave put out of the sound system, whether it's on or not.

Similar to active noise-cancelling headphones I would assume.

Yep, it is a technology that has been around and used in other applications for a long time.

Bose announced it for the Buick last month (http://www.prweb.com/releases/2012/12/prweb10195615.htm)

And here is their web blurb promoting the feature to automakers: http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/...ations/asm.jsp

Will the noise cancellation affect and reduce noises from possible rattles or creaks?
