Seats
I just don't like those "Competition Sport Seats". They look too much like they are trying to look like a Lamborghini or Ferrari seat, or something out of a tricked out Ricer.........too "boy racer". They just don't fit with the "look and feel" of a Corvette.
The "Grand Touring Seat" is just fine, and when I can afford a low mileage used C7 in about 12 years, I'll make sure the one I get has the Touring Seats!

The competition seat is EXACTLY what the Corvette needed. Its time to finally shed that old man, cruiser, waxer mentality and take the Corvette to the top where it deserves to be.

Old man, cruiser, waxer.......Uh Oh, you just made me feel even older than my 62 years. By the time I get a C7 I will be in my 70s, and harness straps will be the last thing on my list. LOL

I will have to sit in each seat before the order. I will pick the one that fits/feels the best. I have picked seats for aircraft, this will be a first for a car. Wonder what the cost difference will be?

At least the competition seats are optional so you're not stuck with a seat you don't like. For me, I don't want my seats to look like ET's second cousin and I'm sitting in his lap.
The GT seats are the better looking of the two.

Now that I've seen pics I'm thinking the sport seats will be more a nice to have, not necessarily a must have.

Remember now, some folks are clever and some aren't. We've all seen the comparison images of the alien and the seats and that was humorous. When harnessed into the competition seats for serious track time------ who would care?

What surprises me is the "standard seats" in the C5 were pretty much close to ugly and not a popular option, and the "sport seats" were what most people opted for. The "grand touring" seats in the C7 look the most appealing to me, and the "competition sport" seats are just a little too much "over the top".
Just my very humble opinion.

I know that sounds like a lot,but compared to Caravaggio's or Pratt & Millers at over $6k they would be a bargain.

Well, the Recaro's in a Mustang GT500 are a $1595.00 option, so I don't see them being any less than that. I know the Corvette's aren't Recaro's,but I'm sure they are equal quality so I'd guess at least $1995.00. Probably closer to $2500.00.

Unless I am totally fooled here, the frames, leather, and 95% of the bolstering are pretty much identical for each seat. I cannot imagine the cost to GM of the Competition seat is significantly different than the Touring. In fact, if they made the Competition seat the base, and the Touring seat the option (and thus a smaller production run) I could see their sourcing costs per seat being identical.
I like them both -- what I commend GM for is again (after a 20 year absence) providing a base seat that is appropriate for a sports car vs. a boulevard cruiser. In the C7, I clearly would not feel that I would have to spring for the Competition seat just to have the support I'd like for spirited street driving and the 2 or 3 times in my life I would take it to a track day.
Bravo
