2014 Stingray debuts in NYC to Celebrate 60 years of Corvette!
It was January 17, 1953 when the Chevrolet Corvette was first revealed to the public at the GM Motorama in the Waldorf Astoria in New York City and changed the American sports car market forever!
(1953 GM Motorama, Waldorf Astoria, NYC)
Sixty years later GM contacted Kerbeck Corvette (current owner of the EX-122) to bring that Motorama Experimental Prototype Corvette back to New York City to celebrate 60 years of Corvettes with the first, the EX-122 and the latest Corvette, the 2014 Corvette Stingray along with one Corvette from each generation!

Some of the attendees special NYC Reveal included insiders from GM’s Corvette team, Corvette aficionados like artist Peter Max and members of the New York press.
(Sam Kelley one of the nation’s top-selling Corvette salesmen accepting award from Chevrolet)
(Pictured left to right: Tom Peters, Chief of Corvette Design, Sam Kelley and Tadge Juechter, Corvette Executive Chief Engineer)
(Pictured left to right John Fitzpatrick, Marketing Manager Chevrolet Performance Cars and Sam Kelley)
(Sam Kelley, Kerbeck Corvette Specialist)
The next morning (January 17, 2013), the EX 122 and the 2014 Corvette Stingray were loaded and transported to studios of Fox New on 43rd St in New York City.
The cars were unloaded at 4:30 in the morning and started to be put into position for their debut together.
Oh, by the way, here’s me, Dave Salvatore with the bow tie standing in the middle of West 48th Street at 5:00 in the morning…this city really never does sleep!
(Dave Salvatore, Kerbeck Corvette Manager)
That’s not sunrise, that’s the lights from Fox News as Tadge Juechter joins the cast of Fox & Friends to talk about the 60 years of Corvette.
But wait, there’s more! When you see the 2014 Corvette taillights up close and in person, they’re absolutely magnificent!

First, congrats on what looks like a fantastic experience.
Second, I hope Mr. Max is indeed a Corvette aficionado and not a Corvette abuser as I have been led to believe base on his treatment of the VH1 collection. Maybe sometime in the future he will use his collection to wow us in a big reveal that is equal to the reveal of the new C7.
Thanks for the pictures. Its fun to share in the experience you guys have enjoyed.

Thanks, Dave. It looks like it was a cool event.
Peter Max was there?
I wonder what happened to that stash of Corvettes he once had gathering dust in a Brooklyn basement.

Thanks Dave! Seeing you in your jeans and bow-tie, you re a lot different than I'd imagined (as you know I've bought a C5 and a C6 from you, but never met you in person. -- something that will change when I buy my C7 from you/Kerbeck).
Kerbeck rocks!!!

So I found another article about the Corvettes he let rot in a parking garage. Peter Max originally wanted to paint them crazy colors and call it art. I'm no critic, so maybe that is art. Now, Mr. Max wants to revive his original intent, but he has stated he wants to paint the cars more subtle colors than originally planned and keep the colors "respectful" of Corvette. Mr. Max wants to add more cars to the collection to bring the total number of cars up to 50. The project is alive, on life support, but it appears Mr. Max does actually care about Corvettes. Hopefully the end result will be something positive.

Thanks John! I usually don't wear jeans but I was loading and unloading the EX122 in NYC! I do, however, wear a bow tie to work everyday. It makes me hard to forget!

The producer from Fox told me that it's nothing to see exotic cars in NYC but you rarely see a car like the 53 which is why it got the attention.
Even during the interview, the Fox hosts wanted to keep talking about (and playing with) the EX122. I felt bad for Tadge while he was trying to keep them focused on the new car!

Dave,
Is the red interior in the C7 a brighter shade of red from the C6?
