..... and in fact I'm finding that I'm liking the C6 more now. Came out a restaurant (dinner out) to find thte Z basking in beautiful light - looked better than the day I bought it. Part of this feeling has to do with the sharp lines on the C7 - nice, but I'm cooling a bit.

To the original poster: I've had the opposite reaction as you actually. The more pictures I see of the c7, the less I like it, and appreciate the wide body style c6 even more. I thought I liked the front of the c7, but now I don't like all the lines on the hood. The whole car looks too angular, and the rear, well, I've already said my piece there.

New is just different. Not always better.

I made my decision when I had a choice between the two. Took delivery 21 December 2012, just 23 days before the unveiling of the C7. I could afford either one, but didn't want to wait for the C7. Besides, this C6Z came at perfect timing, at a perfect price in the perfect color and options combination I have been looking for for the past 3 years. I am very happy with my decision regardless of the introduction of the C7 and I am not worried about depreciation.

I'm proud to love a car that has such a rich heritage. There are only a handful of cars have a longer history...(I believe land cruiser, jeep, beetle, morgan 4/4, and the suburban). Corvette is storied, iconic, and patriotic. Whenever I see any cX Vette, I get that smile and sense of pride. I have no doubt the same will happen for the c7, as it has for all its elders.

Very nice. Is that a 427 or a GS I can't tell the difference. I have been driving C5's for years and there were not a lot of models.

You have a modified, modified 62... The side coves were all body colored in 1962. Your car looks great!

Car design has matured enough over the last 100+ years that technical improvements no longer result in overt appearance differences from one generation to the next. The differences we notice are almost entirely to do with style.

All that has to happen for any given style to appear "dated" is for fashions to change, whether for better or for worse. The C6 was introduced in 2004, so we associate it (and cars like it) with 2004. Imagine a universe in which the C7 had come out in '04 and was replaced 9 years later by the C6. The C7 would appear dated, simply by definition. It's inescapable.

There are plenty of examples of "dated" designs that have aged more gracefully than their successors. Compare, for example, the 1964½ Mustang and the 1974 Mustang II. (I should point out that I'm not likening the C7 to the Mustang II.)

I made the decision between a new 2004 C5 and a new 2005 C6 the fall of 2004. After originally seeing the C5 in early 1997, I immediately had the "gotta have it" feeling. I did not have that initial feeling for the C6, although I have grown to like it more with the wide body Z06 and Grand Sport trim levels.

So far, I have had a similar "gotta have it" response to the C7, however I definitely want to touch and feel it first. I also plan to wait until the high HP model hits the streets and for GM to get rid of the new platform bugs that usually come with a complete redesign.

I don't plan to replace, just add to the stable, so for right now, I am definitely "loving the one I'm with"!

I dig the new c7! I dig my c6 and my previous c5 z06...

The new styles fresh ....

The older gens are still cool.

As said early on ...have fun buying the latest and greatest as soon as they hit.

I always buy my new cars on my terms and timeframe.

Works for me.

Default Food for thought

You know the basic body lines of every Porsche sold today is based on the 1962 Porsche 911. That means for the past 51 years the body style for the most part has not changed. Yet, I don't hear any Porsche owners lamenting the 2013 Porsche makes the 2012 model look "dated"...

I own a C6, a very beautiful car. In a couple of years I will probably buy the C7, another very beautiful car. It I do buy the C7, it will not be because I believe the C6 looks "dated"...

and that's all I am gonna say 'bout that...
