Default Weight....Its all about weight

This is what distinguishes the Corvette from any other performance/sport car. What else out there has a high hp v8 and weighs under 3200lbs. Not too much! Especially considering the price.

That’s why I bought my C6, low weight, balanced chassis, and high power. Fun all around.

Now the C7 is out, and the bottom line is, it looks great, obviously has the power and the balance, but..... What does it weigh???

Under 3200.... great!
Under 3300.... not bad!
Under 3400.... not too impressive.
Under 3500.... barely distinguishable from other v8 performance cars

IMO, the Corvette improves when it gets smaller and lighter. Look at the C5, dynamically no different than a C6, but the fact the C6 is smaller made all the difference in looks. The C5 and the C6 both distinguished themselves with high HP (relatively) and low weight.

For the C7 to be something special and continue the trend, high hp and fancy electric add-ons will not do it. It needs to be light enough to distinguish itself from all the other high hp options out there.

Meh. I'll buy one even if it weighs 4000 pounds.

599 and GTR are both >3800lbs. The 997tt and F12 are >3450lbs.

There is only so much GM can do. Now if they'd like to make something in line with a GT3/GT3RS, I'd be ALL in.

I think it will be 3300bs base idk how much weight with the z51 with bigger breaks and other stuff. They needed to put more weight for increased safety standards and fuel efficiency (torque tube, engine), better interior materials, infotainment system, slightly longer and wider. They took off 30+ lbs with the panels and 100 off with the frame. They also are using foam instead of balsa wood for the floorboards (automobile mag). Idk what the exotic v8s weigh but the American muscle cars are over 4klbs and i don't care how much hp the mustangs and camaros have (test drove a gt recently) they just don't compare IMHO for a lighter car, for fun factor.
If I remember when the c7 at Detroit was introduced, they said it had a better power to weight then the 911.

If it doesn't weigh 40lbs less than the C6 I will be pretty unimpressed.

You are going to be pleasantly surprised when the car debuts ....

GM's now on the path to underpromise at early release and over deliver at showroom introduction...

The new C7 will weigh less than 3100 lbs in stingray form.

The Z51 will weigh a bit more than the non Z51 car due to equipment added for the track but it will still weigh less than the current c6...

Get your money ready to enjoy the latest and greatest stingray corvette.

I was not aware that anyone was privy to such detailed weight information for C7 base? Since I have always been a proponent and participant of getting my performance cars on a diet, I am quite naturally interested in your source? I am a real believer in the effects of sprung and unsprung weight on performance.

How do you know this? Less than 3100lbs? I doubt it but would love it if it did weigh that little. Drop in some headers, titanium exhaust, ditch runflats and you have a 3000lb sleeper.

If I told you I'd have to kill you...(I'm joking but I do know)

Underpromise and over deliver as production nears..Its the new GM mantra...

Mark my words..listen to my face and see my words.. take it to the bank or just wait and see for yourself.

GM is playing their cards close to their vest.

Higher HP from the new LT1 and lighter weight/Alum. frame and carvon fiber.

Dealers are over stocked with unsold C6's.

Care to put your money where your mouth is? One thousand American says the c7 will weigh in above 3100lbs. Dead serious.

I will be happy if the C7 has a harmonic balancer that doesnt fail after 300 miles.
