Default Ferrari 599 GTO similar styling

Now, I'm not saying the C7 is a clone of the 599, but the styling is similar, and that's a bad thing?? The C7 is amazing when you consider style, performance, and of course $$$$$$$$$. The projected price somewhere around 65K (with some options) On the other hand the Ferrari 599 GTO goes for 426K. I love my 10 GS, and wouldn't part with it, but man that C7 has got me thinking. Just sayin. Peace

Doesn't look all that similar to me.

I lean more to thinking of the C7 and the F12 Ferrari.

The C7 silhouette is a direct 'homage' to the F12 Ferrari - several on the Corvette team have admitted as much. See some of Tadge's comments for reference . . .

Never mind the first, what do you actually know about the performance part?

Very close, indeed. The Corvette is really better looking to me.

Actually the 599 looks very similar in overall shape to the C6 imo. If you remove the fake plastic buttresses on the rear glass of the 599 the long nose, green house and rear glass of the 599 resemble a C6 which debuted before the 599. Since the C7 is part of the continuing evolution of the Corvette design stemming in this case from the C6 it's understandable that it resembles a Corvette and in some respects has some similar lines to both the C6 it replaces and the 599 that resembled the C6.

How is this possible when the C7 design was already established and signed off on before the F12 debuted last year? I'm not trying to sound like an *** just curious.

Good question, and I do not pretend to know the answer. I have read/heard on more than one occasion Tadge commenting as to the similar profiles of the cars and that it is not an accident - that Ferrari has gobs more development money and that if one is going to copy, why not copy from a mega funded design house . . . words to that effect

From the side profile they look very very similar. Although the Ferrari F12 performance numbers are amazing, I don't feel like it's one of the more stunning Ferrari's I've seen. I think the Ferrari 430 and current 458 Italia are some of the best Ferrari's, both for performance and amazing looks.

Too bad the C7 didn't look more similar to one of those.

Just got through reading the latest Automobile Mag where they featured this vehicle and thought the same.

I like the 458 Italia better then the F12 also the 430 is also a great looking car. There is a Ferrari dealership just down the road from where i live and they have a Cars & Coffee each month.

Awesome. My apartment in NYC is right down the street from the Ferrari dealership on Park Ave where they have a couple 458s and F12s. Both awesome cars, but the 458 just kills it IMO.

The C7 could have easily been similiar looking to the 458 too. The base C6 (normal body) shares a lot of the sleek lines that the 458 has, especially in the front of the car. I understand Chevy wanted to go in a different direction with the C7 (new sharp lines, new rear, etc.)

But just something to think about - If Chevy took the C6 base car and modified the front and back just a bit (not going too overboard and keeping the sleek body) and used the new C7 front headlights (which look awesome), they could have easily had a Ferrari 458 type look, but still retained the Corvette at heart. Add that with the new C7 interior and enhanced performance and I think Chevy would have hit a grand slam and not had such a big split amongst people either really liking or disliking the C7.

I dont think anyone of us would be complaining if the C7 looked very close to a 458 at a Corvette price. We would all be on line at our local dealers putting down deposits.

I have always thought that the Ferrari is one if not the best looking car on the road. Don't get me wrong I love my C6 just like all the other Corvette's I have owned but there is just something about the Ferrari.

I was not at this months Cars & Coffee, so I am not sure if there was much talk about the new C7 and how it looks like the F12, but at the January event, I happened to walk out of the showroom and standing by my car were two employee's of the dealership and I heard one say that they liked the lines on the Corvette. That my me feel good.

Maybe if the C8 is mid engine, they can copy the 458 for it.

I like the lower door, bigger side glass on the F12. More of a kick up in the rear fender.

I feel the same way. I have walked into the Ferrari dealer on Park just to look at the 458. The employees knew from seeing me that some 27 year old kid wasn't in the market to buy one, but we started talking anyways as they were cool guys. I mentioned to them that the 458 was simply stunning so they asked me what car I had. I told them I have a 2009 C6 Corvette. They too said that the C6 is a stunning car in itself.

Ferrari has better wheels and side mirrors...the C7 has better door handles and side vents. A body color roof will look better on the C7, but GM just wants to showcase the carbon fiber tech. I like that the Ferrari rear bumper doesn't appear to be clipped on like the corvette.

Listen.....dont get overly aggressive here but..............the c7 is nicer profile for sure....the rear quarter is weak on the 599 and the nose on the 599 is more aggressive....but overall....if there was no heritage or prestige or other crap tied into it....and we had both there with no name badges...the c7 would take my vote in a second...YET...the 599 is amazing..

Yes that is. Just goes to show how good it will look with tinted windows i suppose.

I love the F12 as well, the 599 i was never a big fan though, oddly enough.
