C7 vert has new top action...animation

Any "roll over" protection in any convertible is primarily psychological anyway. A pillar (i.e. windshield) isn't going to act as a roll hoop, angle is just too tough to withstand the energy of a roll over. Assist with a B pillar roll hoop, sure, but not on its own.
Heck, the roll hoop in the C5/C6 (and I assume C7) is a mightly beefy piece of structure, and it takes a beating in the roll overs that I've seen documented. I'd just find an organization that lets you run a 'vert in a DE and enjoy!
Have a good one,
Mike

A friend of mine rolled his C5 Convertible at 60 mph 3 times with the top down. He walked away with some bumps and bruises. The windshield header remained intact. The car ended upside down and after he got out of his seat belt he crawled out through the space close to the windshield.
He was very lucky but had the windshield header collapsed, he probably would not have survived.

I bought the window valet for the C6 and it's great. Just wish the top was on the FOB as well..

What would an Officer say?
Love that animation, thanks a lot for posting that up!
Just a question about operating the top at speed.
I was just thinking about what a police officer would think of a driver of a convertible corvette lowering his top while going down a city road at 25 mph.
Do you think that would be a ticket-able offense?
I can think of tons of times I would lower it at 20+ mpg, going down my driveway for example, but just wondering about the legality of doing it on a road.

Let's not even talk about the Ferrari spyder disasters...it brings back nightmares. Nothing made on a C7 will be the junk that they put in those cars. Thank god companies starting developing elec conversions for the spyders. I battled a 355 spyder not long ago to get its top working again...sheesh....what a pain...

I have an 05 vert (power). What amazes me more than the power mechanisms is how air tight the top is when it is up. Never had a drop of water from rain or washing. Plus the car is more quiet than a coupe with the top up. I've got 70k miles now and the top is still tight.

power top is a no go for me
I purchased a 2012 grand sport convertible with 2LT pkg and NO power top. the manual top is pretty easy to use. I searched to find a 1LT or 2LT convertible. I did not want 3LT because of the power top.
IF the c7 convertible only comes with a power top, i will never buy one.
back to coupes, i guess.

i have bought new 5 coupes -1990,1993, 1999, 2002 and 2005
one new convertible 2012.

I'm pretty sure if you get broadsided by someone driving a Prius at the right angle, at the right speed, it will roll over, and over.

"It's a phony...neither of those are on the real C6 vert. Neither is the color."
I believe you. I've seen lots of other pictures of the C7 convertible. I'm just wondering where this particular rendering came from.
