Salesmen are morons especially corvette ones. Your still dealing
with chevy mindsets. AND they want the car to be upscale.
Or don't let the brainless kids even talk about a corvette sale.
Don't be a dick.

Galles Chevrolet in Albuquerque called and asked if we wanted to put $1,000 refundable deposit on a new C7. I think they are selling for MSRP but they were a little vague on this.

Walk into a Lexus or Mercedes dealer and then walk into a Chevrolet dealer.....it's like you entered a Third World Country! The level of unprofessionalism, ignorance and just the atmosphere is truly a turn off. And the Corvette cost more than half of the models some the other guys sell.

But for the most part they are all salesman. But the other guys get more training, etc.

This is one of the reasons I would love to see the Corvette being sold & serviced only by dealers Chevrolet & Cadillac that are certified Corvette specialist that have a small dedicated Corvette team in sales & service.

Call Ken Fichtner at Fichtner Chevrolet in Laurel, Montana and he will treat you right.

Here's the addendum that the folks giving me a $1,000 deposit receive. They're simply reserving an allocation.

As for salesmen being morons, we can find someone in every occupation that fits that description. It just takes a person to care about what they're doing for a living.

Please call with any question.

Those of you that buy your vette from a not so local dealership, how to you get your vette home? You get it delivered or you drive the car all the way back? In my case, Kerbeck is about a 2 and a half hour drive from me, about 150 miles if my memory serves. I don't mind driving that distance, but driving back in a brand new Corvette that I don't want to get a scratch or a rock chip on before I even get it home, would be a bit nerve wracking. That and I know highway cruising at a high speed, constant RPM and speed isn't good for a brand new car that hasn't broken in yet.
Bought a new car, picked it up in Sommerville, NJ - drove it down the GSP, over to AC for a couple of hours, then back across the AC Expwy and home first day. No problems. Shift gears a lot, forget the cruise control exists, vary speeds, take the occasional detour & side road.

Maybe I will do that then. Just make a fun day out of it. As long as it won't mess up the cars break in procedure, I have no problem doing that.

I think what you are going to see this year is the people that just have to have them the first year, Well, they are going to need to go to the big volume high allocation Corvette dealers in order to get one. I am too old for that. I will just wait til Inventories start building, then, even better prices.

Don't worry about the potential damage you can get on the way home. It isn't any different than the potential damage you can get driving around your local town.

As for breaking in the drive train all you have to is vary the speed and the gears you are using. Vary speed and engine rpm by changing gears every 5 to 10 minutes. Engine is basically broken in when it is driven off the factory floor but the drive train needs some break in. Once you get over 250 miles the gears are pretty much set. Stop and spend some time eating a nice meal about half way through the drive. That will let the car cool down.

My wife and I are thinking; Museum Delivery. If my local Dealer sells it to me, they will detail it when I get it home. The trip home will put about 750 miles on the clock. I'm tired of worrying about damage or what ever. Ruins the experience, if it gets bitched up, trade or touch up as required.

With a museum delivery you car will come better prepared than your dealer could ever do.

Great, everyone keeps saying do the Museum Delivery, so I think I will. Get to use the navigation system.

The local dealer issue is something I am struggling with. I know I can get excellent service and a C7 at MSRP from a forum dealer (planning on museum delivery) but what about service after the sale? Every Chevy dealer I have walked into around here (Pittburgh) makes me feel uncomfortable and dirty, like I am dealing with a bunch of bottom feeders. The only one I talked price with told me $5,000 over sticker, so I won't be going back.

My last cars have all been BMWs, an Infiniti, and a Ford and I had a great experience in each case. I may be driving my car 4 hours to Criswell for service, LOL. It is just as well, the local boys don't deserve my money (or respect) at all...

We bought our C6 online from a mega dealer and had it delivered locally. Local dealers get a handful of cars. They get it. We haven't had much need for dealer service, but what we have had has gone easily. Thing to remember. The service manager is into maximizing his warranty money numbers. It affects his bonus. Same with service writers. They could care less where the car was purchased. So don't worry about where you bought it. Ignore the sales guys if they are putting a guilt trip on you. You'll never need them anyway. But don't lean on them for information taking up their time and then buy elsewhere. Fair is fair to you and to them. If a dealer 's service department acts like a chump, it is easy to find one that won't.

Can't wait. The discount in a few years will cut a few years off our time enjoying the car. I don't want one just before the C8 arrives.
