From a performance perspective, if you were GM
Where would you have the stingray fall in regards to its little brothers (ZL1 and Z/28)?
Its been confirmed the Z/28 is 3 seconds faster around a track (GM hasnt specified which track) than the Zl1 and comes with optional carbon ceramics.
So, being GM, would you make the stingray faster all around than both little brothers or 1 or none?
I think GM will run into trouble if the stingray comes in slower than both for its wheel house (the road course).
I can understand not being as quick as the Z28 since its a track ready car but what if the C7 comes in at 70k with the Z51 option and the Z28 comes in slightly higher than the Zl1 (MSRP is 55K for ZL1) and yet the C7 cannot round a track quicker than it?
Also makes me wonder why no carbon ceramic option for the C7 Z51 package

I'm not sure; I guess I'd like it to be faster/quicker, but that might be difficult. As to carbon ceramics, for those who don't know, you're referencing the ZR1's brakes. As to the Camaro being a track-ready car, is it really? I'm asking because I don't know: can you just drive it to the track, pump up the tires if needed, add a quart and go race, with no pad changes?

I think the C7 should come in below those two in HP. The C7 will still be faster than the SS Camaro. It's the Z versions that should top them both. A base corvette is still a base corvette. If someone is in it for bragging rights wait on the performance version IMO.

yeah GM is stating the new Z/28 is. and the new camaro does have a carbon ceramic option just like the ZR1 (besides them being standard on the ZR1)
Z/28 will come with a dry sump LS7 motor with massive downforce (big front splitter and rear wing)

I would expect the top C7 variants to outperform the top Camaro variants, just like they always have, and I suspect always will.

Especially if it comes in at a much higher MSRP than these models.

Don't think I'd have any expectation one way or the other whether the base vette could outperform the top Camaro variants. Haven't looked them all up, but I suspect in some years the base vette did, and some years it didn't.
If one wants a pony car, they'll buy the Camaro. If they want a sports car, they'll buy the vette. If they want the baddes ride GM has to offer they'll buy the top vette variant.

nope. Apples to oranges, etc. You're talking a street machine (damn luxurious one at that looking at the equipment list) versus a stripped down track rat with zero equipment, etc. LMAO - go ahead and acid dip the panels if you want the historic Z/28 equivalent . Put a track rat/C7 Z06 up against the camaro counterpart? 'Vette better win everytime. But that's in the future

The new c7 z51 m7 with MRC will track faster so don't worry about it.

I agree the C7 will be down by at most 50 hp if that 450 est is the official number(I think it will be around 470) and it will weigh roughly 500 pounds less than the new Z28 so it should still be faster than that. The ZL1 is a different story although I think that the C7 will do 0-60 in 3.8 sec and may come close in other aspects.

I think the C7 should come between 470-490 HP.
As far as a Camaro, could care less if it came with 1000 HP!! We're talking apples & oranges.

To me it's alot more about the driving experience as a whole. I will take a 450HP Vette over a 500HP or even a 580HP Camaro everytime. Don't get me wrong, I'm not ridiculing the Camaro at all, it's just a presonal choice perspective.

The Camaro is a fine car but it's not to my taste. I look for more of a complete package and prefer a more premium car.
But don't get me wrong, I would love to drive one for maybe a day or so.
