Current C7 body design and widebody possibility
Looking at the design of C7, it seems making the body wider to accommodate wider tires and add lift reduction measures would be considerably more difficult than with the current car. Have there been any indications from GM that this is not the case?

the base C7 track width is 1" greater than the base C6 (both front & rear).
I thought someone reported that Tadge said (in response to a widebody question) "The C7 is already wide-body."

The width of the track may be wider but not the width of the tires. The maximum width of rear rim on the current base car is 11 inches, not sure how much clearance there is to fit wider rims on C7, doubtful that 13 inch wide rims would fit, not even 12 from what I see.

Good question.. I'd like to know as well but I guess it's a wait and see kind of thing. I'd bet they have factored in wider rubber for the performance versions. Either they have room under the wheel wells for a wider and different offset rim or they will add a bit of width to the fenders or maybe both. If they have room under the fenders already, that will be good news for people like me who like aftermarket wheels. I'd love to have a set of 360 Forged Concave Mesh or similar on a C7. I wish I could use my rims and tires but I'm sure that wouldn't work.
Who says they will need a 325/345 combo for traction on the C7? I'd bet they don't need to go that wide on the HP versions of the C7 to gain the same if not better traction than we had on the C6 Z06 or ZR1's.
At this point we are all just kicking tires right now until the details are released on future models. Fun to speculate though.

Whatever it is, it will need to be damn bigger than a 285!

If they don't make a wide body I don't have to worry about buying a C7 - the Dead Fish just isn't cutting it - YET

I'm currently running Pirelli P-Zero 345's and can lite them up very easily, with 485hp at the wheels and I have 285's on the front ! They have to do something!
