He said "550 horse and 550lb torque".....I think he typo'd with his mouth.
550 hp in the base, non Z06 non ZR1? No way.

it could have 750 or 250 bhp, as long as it does 0-60 in 3.9 or better I really don't GAF what it puts out.

I can't get the sound, tried youtube, still no sound. But the captions are fun. According to those it has "five and fifty worst powers" and "doorse sixteen in about four seconds".

I think maybe he just misspoke on the 550/550 HP/Torque. Its my understanding when the final HP numbers come out they will be close to 475 ...

Could it be 475 rwhp and torque? That would be awesome. My hunch is that he misspoke, but marketing guys, particularly those trusted with TV interviews, tend to be very well briefed and they know how to stick to the script. A 75hp-ish drivetrain loss could explain things.

He said we hope to achieve 550hp and 550 ft pounds of torque with the LT1. He didn't say that the base Sting Ray had that much power. High performance model coming? I remember a hint before the car's release that a high performance version would arrive in 2015.

To be able to speak naturally on so many of the characteristics and capabilities of the car accurately, and then turn around and make such a classic goof over the amount of horsepower and torque does not seem right.
Did he make a slip and let the cat out of the bag?
Would they ever produce a base Corvette with 550 hp? I have my doubts if that would ever happen but it's one of those times I would like to be wrong.
