The more things change...
...the more they stay the same.
As a newcomer to the board and after watching all the catfights over the C7, I decided to do some digging. The following thread is from 2004 and is a general thread about likes and dislikes of the C6 at approximately the same time in its introduction as the C7 is now. Except for less vitriol and personal attacks (more common throughout the interwebs these days) the content is remarkably similar, except it was the nose no one liked 8 years ago.

This is nothing like it was back in 2004.
And all the animosity that was created at the reveal of the base car was all but erased the next year when the C6 Z06 premiered. Because, planned or not, the widebody addressed the design shortcomings of the base car.
Chance for history to repeat itself in a positive way for the C7 Z06 reveal.

Could it have possibly been the wide body styling that played a part in those who didn't like the base C6 but jumped on board the C6 bandwagon when the wide bodies became available. And also just ignore the hundreds(maybe thousands) that paid big money to convert their base C6 to a wide body.

The sad thing is that the C7 is not much of a leap forward from the C5.
MSRC, DI and VVT are all great improvements, but nothing revolutionary.
The aluminum frame is also nice, but the bottom line weight hasn't been majorly reduced.
I think forced induction has been the greatest stride, but FI is only available on the $120k ZR1.
All of the other improvements are incremental at best.
I will repeat it over and over again, because it's the truth.
DCT and AWD are necessary for a revolutionary move forward.

I am a man, so drivetrain and performance are what I focus on.
Looks are subjective.
With that said, even as a C5 owner, I fell in love with the C6 at first sight.

I remember when the C4 came out, after the hiatus in '83. The difference was there was no internet in '83-'84. At the time, my father was actively racing his '77 in SCCA and local events and very engaged in the Corvette Club of Western Pennsylvania.
The first '84 showed up at an autocross event at Greengate Mall in Greeensburg, Pa. (at least, the first one we saw). People acted like it was a spaceship. Very quickly, it was accepted as a Corvette, as will the C7.

DCT: Yes, but I'm sure that weight and cost were the problem.
AWD: No, it's probably the worst feature of the Lambo's. As an example, the Ferrari FF and F12 use the same engine. The FF uses a unique lightweight gear box at the front of the engine (driven off the crank) to give it FWD in 1st and 2nd gear so that the car can have snow capabilities. In the more high performance F12 -- they don't include FWD. Why? It effects the overally handling too much as well as adding weight and cost.
I think eventually they will do DCT. It's the wave of the future and they cannot ignore it forever. However, it's a really fine redesign and re-engineering of the car as opposed to just putting a new fiberglass body on it.
