Default HP Announcement at Indy 500

Anyone think the announcement of the final specs will coincide with the Indy 500?

Your guess is as good as mine, but it would be great if it did

Now that the certification testing is complete, I would expect the real numbers to be announced "any time now". Indy would make sense as it is the next big publicity event.

No. I think they will never announce it so that people will find new and interesting ways to speculate when and how much.

That would be pretty cool. GM's announcement on the HP figures; 'Whats the difference how much horsepower it has isn't it fast enough for you?'

HP wars are heating up with the announcement coming from SRT about their new FI 392 Hemi expected to be around 640ish HP

Well, the best idea so far is just to never announce it. Let folks do their own dynos and argue the results.

Many folks never believe the manufacturer's numbers anyway. Some folks will call GM liars no matter what number they state. Some will decide they are low-balling it for insurance reasons. Some will say they are over-estimating for marketing reasons.

What's the real difference between 450 and 475 anyway? Lots of folks were very unimpressed with the diff between the LS2 and LS3.

For the average driver you're right, it likely won't make all that much of a difference.
But to those of us who truly appreciate strong straight line acceleration, it could mean the difference between a 12 second 1/4 mile ET (ie: 12.1) and an 11 second one (ie: 11.9).

True, as the owner of what is still the quickest 1/4 mile ET pass ever recorded with a bone stock C6 LS2, I was among them (at first at least).
But in time it was determined that the stock LS3 cars with that mere 30hp increase were roughly 4/10ths quicker (and a full 2mph faster) in the 1/4 mile than the stock LS2 cars, that's A LOT.
So basically, yes, I personally would MUCH rather have 475hp than 450hp.

And we know that they are starting production in June which is only 8 days away so the announcement is coming between now and when production start. This will keep the C7 buzzing until people start taking delivery and that is why they have delayed announcing the official HP number.
