Quote From Dealer In Regard To QC Hold
Quote from my dealer,"I spoke to the person I know that has limited communication with the factory. He said they will not disclose to him what the issue is and they are just trying to avoid what happened in 1984. At this time I have no further information. I have not received any response from our GM rep as of today. I’ll keep you posted as I hear more".
The 1984 Corvette had terrible build quality and problems with crossfire fuel injection. The previous year, 1983, they built approx. 43 Corvettes. Quality was so bad they discontinued production for the entire year.

still really does not explain why only the first 300 were affected - what did they find and correct on 301? (or whatever the number of good ones)
Inquiring minds are dying to know...and probably never will until they de classify it 30 years from now...

Was it the first 300 or 600?

Yeah, you can wait until 2015 or more likely 2016 for most of the little bugs to get worked out. There's a lot of good sense in that, and that's what I normally do for the family/wife's car. That's the car that I want to be as dependable as I can make it.
OTOH, this car is for fun and any new (not just new model year) car one buys can be a lemon. This car will basically be my daily driver as well as weekend toy. There are other cars in my garage, so if the C7 has issues, I guess I'll put up with it (to a limit) to have the technology and driving fun for that extra year or two. If it's a mess, I'll get rid of it and get a later model.
Let's be realistic, though, by doing their due diligence on QC, GM is doing what they need to do to provide the product they promised. I'm good with that even though I'd like to be behind the wheel of my Stingray sooner rather than later.
I'm not setting my sights low, it's jus that life is too short.... and the older I get, the shorter life gets. I can't wait for the next model year forever.

If I had $65k this second, I'd get a C7. Why the hell not? Sure might have a few issues to bring it back to have corrected, but you get to enjoy it the full ~10 years before the C8 is released! Sure as hell don't want to buy it late in the model run. I'd kick myself if I bought a '12 or '13 (unless I got 25%+ off).

I'm #307 and it has affected me. Probably the mid-upper 300's is the cutoff for this particular situation. I'm still curious what the actual problem is-it can't be they are holding them just for another check of a system(s) as that could have been done quickly at the plant lot rather than truck the cars to Nashhell and unload/reload. It must be a reflash or replacement of a component.

I think it would be interesting just to know what kind of facility this is in Nashville -
-just a big lot?
-a supplier's faciltiy
-a service facility with a ton of car lifts?
we need an overflight or the address....

The Crossfire was introduced in 1982. There were no issues with it for 1983. There were no 1983 Vettes because they came out late in the 1983 model year and since they met the 1984 federal standards they were introduced as 1984 models.

One thing I'm seeing w/ the new GM is a real focus on making sure the vehicles are right from the get go. I feel that they take extra time with a new release and you just might have a better chance of getting a good one in the first year, than later on when they don't hand inspect each vehicle as thoroughly.
My 2014 Diesel Cruze obviously had a problem too. It was delayed by about 2-3 weeks and when it arrived it had 150 miles on it and over half a tank of diesel in it. The car has been perfect however. I'm glad they took the time to get it right.
That said, as long as the dealer gives me a free loaner car a few shake down bugs with a new vehicle is no big deal.
