Ah

Trying not to get hung up on peak numbers because I know they don't matter as much as that great TQ curve.

If you put HP aside, the lt1 is very comparable to the z06 torque. This is a big win !!!!!

If the motor cranked out 1000 HP people here would complain it wasn't enough.

30 more hp and torque, 400 + torque from 3 k to about 5 k and probably gets an EPA rating close to 30 mpg. Impressive.

Now all naysayers make a list of all the engines that do this. hint: It's gonna be a short list, like 1!

I'm really in shock what people here care about when they talk about this new car, the first really new edition in so many years.

First priority: Tail lights

Second priority: How much HP it will have above 450.

Amazing. This is what is important?

Excellent numbers! For a street motor, this is a going to be one hell of an entry level Vette. Torque curve is amazing and that's what is going to be a lot of fun on the street. Actually, this motor will have lots of down low grunt and top end as well, if you want to stay in it. Good job, Chevrolet.

Some are never satisfied, that is plenty of HP/Torque for me,,,,

"I am sure if they used round rear lights that would have added the additional 60 HPs making this car more acceptable, what is GM thinking, what a bunch of rookies"

460 sounds good to me. I placed my order two weeks ago and this announcement changes nothing for me. As others have mentioned, there is a lot more to a sports car than just HP.

I guess everyone is going to jump on me because I estimated the horsepower at 453. Missed it by 2 HP. I'm waiting on the ones who showed their so-called proof that the LT1 would be 475HP to again say I'm an idiot and don't understand complex engineering as they do. And then there were the ones that said 496 was the horsepower based on some other V6 engine GM builds.

And the 7000 RPM redline and max power at 6500 RPM that was offered as "proof". LOL

Seems to me while it might not be as fast as a Z06, driving it around the streets it should feel just about as fast with that torque curve. C6Z will obviously still pull it in any kind of "race" though in a straight line as we all knew.

I'm a little surprised tq starts to fall off after 5k vs. 6k for the LS7. You would think with vvt the tq curve could be extended farther up the RPM range. I do recall however, reading somewhere that the DI benefits exist primarily at lower RPM ranges. I believe Toyota's BRZ uses DI for engine speeds < 4500 then switches to port injection for RPM > 4500. I wonder how much DI has to do with the tq range being at lower speeds than we are used to with port injection? Engineers??

I dare ANYONE to tell me they can tell 10 HP difference in this car. If the car had 470 instead of 460, the feeling would be exactly the same.

It's just numbers on a page.

I fully admit that I was estimating 475 with the NPP exhaust. I was off by 15hp. I also estimated 460 torque and it came in at 465. Do I win a consolation prize?

Given the technology they added, and the results they've gotten in the past with even smaller engines I totally understand people thinking that with all the other improvements they've made.

However it seems the goal here wasn't to just keep going on the path they have been and getting a high peak number, the goal was to make the car as fast as possible by adding great power under the range, peak hp be damned.

5.8% increase.

I bet the leftover deals on the C6 will dry up quick.
