I get to drive on good roads and I track my vettes. So I'd get it.

But if somebody never tracked, and they had pothole-ridden roads to traverse, the non-Z51 might be a better choice.

If you like the looks of the wheels/spoiler, those could always be added.

I agree with you, but some on the forum are trying to sell the Z51 option by claiming it will help resale. That is just not a fact.

Um... rotors are part of the brakes...

BRAKES
front and rear power-assisted discs with four-piston fixed front and rear calipers (slotted rotors with Z51)
Rotor diameter (in/mm):
front: 12.6/320 (13.6/345 with Z51) rear: 13.3/338

If I was looking for a used C7, I would definitely buy (and pay more) one with the Z51 Package, Mag Ride and ECC. No doubt. I think there is a market for every level of car. All things even, I have no problem paying for what I want...I think many others agree, while many others may just want a base car. It's all personal choice...BUT if your buying a "sports car", you might as well get one that handles to its optimum.

Sorry to break it to you guys.
Depreciation has never been a reason I bought a car, let alone considering buying a new car. Sorry to break it to you, but cars are LOUSY investments...

Default It is simple...

If you are gonna spend$70,000 on a car, then $2,800 is a small price to pay, heck it is probably less than sales tax!

You must have traded it in. I would not buy a Corvette without it, or a higher level performance package.

To some people it has no value on resale. That would be the same people that would not buy it on a new car.

It can be like an unusual car color. For many it adds no value or makes them not want the car. To the right person, they are looking for that specific color, so it means the difference in a sale or no sale.

I disagree. That would be like saying a GS would be worth the same as a comparibly equipped narrow body on resale. Maybe a Stealer would call it a wash. But, retail to a private party, the higher performing Vette will always bring more.

What about the bad side of a Z51? How many miles will you get out of a set of tires? It was pretty bad on the C6 as I recall.

Tires on my C5 last 5k miles. The Z51 will do considerably better than that.

Doesn't Z51 include a rear anti-sway bar also? I could swear someone talking about how they removed the anti-sway in the base model but have one in the Z51 package.

When someone with a Z51 C7 pulls up next to you in your base C7, theirs is going to look cooler.

Then buy a Camry. Great resale return.

The idea that anyone would buy an expensive 2 seat sports car and then worry about resale of performance options is bizarre.

It's a sports car... you buy it because it's sporty.

Aesthetic issues... I understand. It's just about looks. But performance?

If you don't want the extra performance, that's fine -- don't buy it.

But if you do, whining that the value isn't added at resale makes you wonder --- didn't you enjoy it when you had it? Wasn't that worth something?

Just curious what difference it makes on pothole roads with the Z51 or Non Z51?

I've ordered it (Z51)!

We got 24K with our Goodyear OEM's on the C6. 61K and well into our third set. Since my F150 gets 50K out of Michelin's that is pretty fast to the dump. Will the Z51 performance tires be much worse? And couldn't you put the harder OEM compound tire (larger or course) and get the OEM wear? Likely never notice the performance difference.

No value on resale? I wouldn't buy one without a Z51 package. You're wrong.

As far as resale goes... the C6 Z51 wasn't as intensive so I can see someone maybe blowing it off. The C7 package includes more... and more importantly, has the spoiler and wheels. Generally when buyers can see the difference it ends up adding value.

Regardless... for me the brakes, wheels, dry sump, and other coolers make it worth it. Even if you never track I have never heard anyone complain that their brakes are too good. And the extra cooling, etc. will certainly help the life span of the other components.

The front rotors are the two piece design too.
