Is anyone letting thier dealer keep your car in the showrrom?

I don't know, it's just a car. I would see if the dealer would work some type of deal with you, maybe a free set of tires or free oil changes for life. I don't think that anything would happen to the car while it was there, I would think they would keep it locked and only let adults inside of it.

Because thats exactly what SHOULD happen. Think about it. He wants to use your car, to advertise for his dealership and attract more people in his showroom. All in an attempt to drum up more business. Why would you sacrifice those precious first moments with your brand new toy.. so that he can profit even more off it. He's already made a profit when you agreed to purchase it.
If he isnt willing to pay you for renting your vehicle. Then he can wait until one that has not been sold eventually shows up. The C7 is not going to be rare. They can produce up to 40,000 a year if demand called for it. He will have no problem getting an unsold C7 to sit in his showroom. He just needs to be patient about it. Just like you have been patient on waiting for GM to deliver your C7.

If the dealer was a personal friend otherwise I d say no.
Even then...I'd give him a one day personal showing for all his potiential corvette contacts between 5 pm and 9 pm one evening with coffee and desert...etc...
I wouldn't do a week...I couldn't stand the anticipation..of getting the new car...you paid for it...you deserve it....and btw...I'd be at the open house corvette unveiling that evening my car was on display at the dealership.

It's not 100% but my dealer usually knows the date the carrier will arrive. The plan is he'll call me before hand and I'll be there early in the morning to watch it come off the carrier, go through PDI and the test ride will have me aboard. I'll let them do an initial clean up as I don't want 'Shirley' looking like she just rolled outta bed on the ride home .
This is of course if I don't implement the NCR delivery. The logistics of getting there is still up in the air. Depends on timing, ride etc. But I think it would be exciting and worth the extra if I can manage to pull it off.
Hope the plan works

Let's look at it from a risk management perspective. I could write a small monograph on the downside potential outcomes but I am drawing a blank on benefits for you Since you can afford a C7 any token amount the dealer offers you for the use of your car is going to be insignificant to you. Any possible future goodwill from your gracious behavior is far too nebulous to calculate.
Or in short: The answer is No, NO, and HELL NO!!!

For Free NO..... If they are going to give you Free oil changes for life or something like that Yes or a free clear bra.... But if you are doing them a favor they have to do something for you.

Besides the damage factor, I don't think anyone brought up the simple fact that your new car is just going to be sitting there while you wait to enjoy it. You're going to want that car as soon as it leaves the transport trailer and not stare at it for a week on the showroom floor and not driving it. Really is a stupid request by the dealer IMO.

I would say NO!
Back when the 2005 Mustangs were delivered there was such hype that some dealers made these requests. A local guy made a deal to allow the dealer to keep his car in the showroom with the caveat that it would be roped off and no visitors were to get inside. One Friday night he took a bunch of us locals to the dealer to see his car. When we arrived the entire service crew was all over the car; some inside, some under the hood, etc. The three guys that filed out of the interior when the car owner went off WERE STILL IN THERE DIRTY WORK CLOTHES FROM THE DAY.
The dealer could have used his allocation to purchase a C7 for advertising. The dealer chose to sell the car to you at a profit. Why should he benefit both ways at your expense?
Get your car and enjoy the hell out of it! Let him take a picture and hang it in his showroom

The answer is plainly NO, or HELL NO!!!
Having said that, I'll bet I'm out of the country when my car arrives at the dealer, and it will sit there until I return (1-2 weeks later). During that time, I suspect hundreds of people will sit in it, and maybe someone will even test drive it for all I know. (I'll be sure to check the speedometer to see if it has traveled a few miles before I sign the papers.) And I suspect the seat will be worn at the very least, but I'm still going to enjoy the ride when I finally get it.
