They had many ideas right, but the proportions and angles were so off that their render looks like a much worse car than actual, especially if you post a rear comparison. It's hard for a render to be totally accurate, but the way they were saying "this IS the C7 Corvette" created an expectation which they did not fulfill.
BINGO!

There are LOTS of differences and we all know that subtle changes can be very dramatic.

Did they have the general ideal and know they had the real thing? Absolutely.

They had it, they showed it to the world and the render did give a pretty dang good impression of what the car would look like. The angles were a bit sharper than they appear IRL and the proportions are not quiet right.

IMHO it's only right that GM would exclude them from anything press related. They can use their inside source (if they still have one), so why should they be included by GM marketing
Its those subtle differences from the render to the real thing that ruined the Jalopnik render for me. The real thing looks great though!

You two need your eyes examined... Either that or your looking at something totally different.
No sir, just speaking my opinion. My last eye exam Doc said i had 20/10 vision, so my eyes are still good

The rendering was done based on the actual car. Of course a drawing is going to look differently than the real thing in the flesh or a photograph.

If you'd seen the real thing first and then someone posted, "Hey look at this cool sketch of the C7 I did..." You wouldn't pick it apart telling them how they missed this little bit and that little bit... you'd look at it and say, "Yep that's the C7... nice drawing."

You are a gentleman for sticking to the original point of the post. Some others here did not do as well.

Thank you. It does get old in some of these threads. GM should circulate that video as much as possible. Can't imagine that it could get much better. Looking forward to find one that does!

I realize the rendering was based on the actual car.

I realize the drawing could look differently than the real thing, flesh or photograph.

Im not picking anything apart, what I am saying is that In My Humble Opinion the Jalopnik drawing sucks. That's all. It's my opinion, im entitled to it. You can't argue what MY OPINION is or would be "if....etc." because you are not me, so you haven't a ****ing clue. Get it?

I think the rendering was based on a European model. Note headlight washers and side turn signals...

Its unbelievable to me someone thinks jalopnik "got it wrong"

They literally went in and looked at the c7 for a while, took a ton of pics and just paid someone to draw the car based on the pics for legal reasons. The car they saw was a hipo model and it is a drawing.....but damn its the exact car!!!!

People will complain about anything.....

Problem is, Jalopnik is run by a bunch of early 30-somethings who were raised in the "Fast and Furious" generation and don't appreciate anything unless it's got seating for 5 and/or European.

Actually had an article on there yesterday about how the C4 almost killed the Corvette. After being called out (and basically told he had no idea what in the frak he was talking about) .... the author of that article back-pedaled faster than a Mime on a Unicycle.

Read the comments on this article. Hilarious.

Is that your viewpoint of all of us 30-somethings? That describes exactly zero of me and any of my friends in our mid-early 30s. We all love cars, especially sports cars, and many own multiple Corvettes.

Wow, thank you for this. I hated that rendering wanna-be gtr clone, but love the actual car from the same angle. Thank god, it didn't loose it's curves.

Of course not, just the guys who run Jalopnik. They enjoy trying to rag on Corvettes every chance they get. Of course, they often post complimentary articles, but also post anything that makes the Corvette look like the redneck's car of choice.

Case in point. Look at the article posted today:

http://jalopnik.com/in-1990-you-coul...t-s-1377185846

Also see: http://jalopnik.com/for-3-000-americ...yeah-657795061

And: http://jalopnik.com/for-34-900-meet-...aler-778569125

Quite often there's some kind of story that tries to stereotype Corvette drivers. I never see that with Porsche, BMW etc...... (But I admit I try to avoid Jalopnik for this very reason.) Look at your typical posts underneath all the Corvette stories on any given day, jokes about hairpieces, gold chains, viagra etc...

EDIT: BTW, I am just a few years removed from a 30-something....

I find it laughable that some folks STILL don't want to see it...

Yes, it's your opinion and you're entitled to it. However, you're not entitled to your own facts.

The fact is the rendering looks almost exactly like the finished product.

Can you explain how your opinion is so far removed from the obvious?
