I'm 20+20+20 divided by 1 and my body reminds me everyday to stop abusing it...But my corvette mind lives a young life so I will enjoy my present C7 TR Z51 coupe and my next C7 AW Z51 convertible (if I live long enough to take delivery of it). Forever YOUNG! OR NOT?

In the late fall of 1962 (I was 12), I saw the "new stingray", a blue split window, parked on the street in Baltimore at the home of one of the sales guys at a big chevy dealership. my father told me I had better get my *** in gear and get an education because that kind of car costs a heap of money. the car was way beyond my realistic expectations.

in 1977, as a result of many blessings and good fortune, I was able to buy my first; a 1966 Nassau blue convertible with a 427 four speed. the car only had 36,000 miles on it and had never sat out over night. the owner bought it new when he was 65 years old--his first corvette---but had wanted one since they came out in '53. I just couldn't understand why an old fart like that would have such a car. anyhow, he sold it to me since he felt that I would give it a "good home". i drove it some and nw it is in the garage covered. I look at it almost every day.

in 1992 i got a new c4 as a daily driver and replaced it with a new c5 as a daily driver in 2000. i drive them in rain and shine and sleet and snow---the reward for a hard days work no matter what the weather and no matter how bad the day was.

in 2006 i got a new zo6 that i only drive when the weather is fit.

the years have been good, but they go by so damn fast. hope to pick up a new c7 in the spring. it's what every 65ish year old fart should have!!
AMEN brother!

When someone asks me why I'm getting a Stingray, I just say "Because I want it." You don't need any more reason than that!

Just turned 62. Retired now and in better shape now than when I was 42.
Had two Mustangs (a Cobra and a GT) in my 40's and 50's, but this 3LT Stingray moves me like no other car.
Be patient if you're in your 20's. Family priorities like education and mortages are far more important. But...your time will come.

sorry, there are more "older" folks buying the C7 than people your age..they should have left the CD player and added the option for the thumb/stick drive usb thing...for those of you that i would call children, that buy the C7....

59 and a lifelong Vette fan. I've had scores of high performance vehicles but this C7 is by far my favorite.

38, first vette. Was never a vette fan until the C7. Have owned Lambos, Porsches, and Hummers in previous years... But just had to have this car!

21 here. driven nothing but fast things since i got my license.
at 15 i was riding a kawi zx-10r (what a monster)
at 16 i moved down to a brand new kawi zx-6r (learned how to wheelie really good before i smashed it)
at 19 when i returned home from kuwait i bought a bmw z4 roadster.
now here i am in a c6 at 21. all paid for with my own money. my priorities might be a little bit skewed, but i say if you want it then you've got to fight for it.

interesting question and responses. i do not see how at 28, you could afford a corvette, quite frankly. however, "afford" is in the eye of the beholder. also, has to do with your priorities, but most of all, it has to do with your parents. think about it. at 24,per one poster, you are probably just getting out of college. assuming no major parental support, there is simply no way you can "afford" a vette--unless, e.g., you land a job with a law firm on wall street, and all the perks that go with it.

note that 1/2 of the families in the usa have a net worth of zero! you are far, far from being an exception. btw, good luck with your education, if not finished. invest your vette money in two years of graduate school, and youll be able to afford 10 vettes. it just takes a few years. remember: they can always repossess your vette, but never you graduate (or college) degree.

I turned 65 this past Summer. I started driving/owning Corvettes in 1972 when I was 23. Since then I have always owned at least one Corvette. I am now on Corvette number 28. I bought my first Corvette because one Saturday morning I received notice of my insurance premium on my 1970 LS6 Chevelle. My insurance premium doubled to $1,470 annually. This was on the 1970 LS6 Chevelle that stickered for $4,620. To say the least I was mad. That very same day I traded the Chevelle on my first Corvette, a 350 Coupe. The insurance premium on the Corvette was only $270 a year. I mention this as the high insurance premiums are what pretty much killed the Muscle Car era. The trade in values of the Muscles Cars also dropped. That 70 Chevelle has something else. I have often wondered what that LS6 would have been like with todays electronics....

39 here...and this is my first Corvette. I have loved them since I was a kid - like many here- but this is the first time I have been in the financial position to actually own one.
