I'm 52 and bought my first corvette in October! Keep the faith. I have dreamed of owning a corvette since I was 16 years old. Finally got the three kids raised and college paid for and could buy my one. Next up…the 2015 Z06.

62 and feeling it until I'm cruising in my vette, then I feel 30 all over again. Put that top down, some good tunes my wife of over 40 years riding shot gun there's nothing like it. I got my first vette at 46, second at 54 and just purchased my C-7. Work hard, spend wisely, save whenever you can and set priorities and you will achieve your goals, health withstanding.

28, going on 29 at the end of April, where I will be in Vegas during my birthday as a gift to myself. I can't afford a new C7 right now. Couple years sure but it's just not in the cards right now. (it will be my second Corvette maybe 3rd if I just happen to find the right C5 at the right time)

45. My C7 is my 3rd Vette. First was an 07 C6 Convertible followed by an 09 Z06. Prior to those, I had several BMW's including an M5 along with SUV's, 4x4's and my very custom 68 Camaro that I've had for over 20 years.

Bought my first new Corvette in 1970 when I was 29 years old. 72 now and I'm on my 8th new Corvette a LRG C7 coupe. I hope I can be buried in my last Corvette, a C8 or C9?

Just celebrated my 21st....anniversary....of my 40th...
I've only owned 5 vettes....see signature.
I tend to become too attached to them and keep them a long time.... . And then kick myself a few years after I sell them... Guess I'm a slow learner... or....

interesting question and responses. i do not see how at 28, you could afford a corvette, quite frankly. however, "afford" is in the eye of the beholder. also, has to do with your priorities, but most of all, it has to do with your parents. think about it. at 24,per one poster, you are probably just getting out of college. assuming no major parental support, there is simply no way you can "afford" a vette--unless, e.g., you land a job with a law firm on wall street, and all the perks that go with it.
note that 1/2 of the families in the usa have a net worth of zero! you are far, far from being an exception. btw, good luck with your education, if not finished. invest your vette money in two years of graduate school, and youll be able to afford 10 vettes. it just takes a few years. remember: they can always repossess your vette, but never you graduate (or college) degree.

42 in New York here
My first corvette was a used 1981 when I was 20. Now, I'm finally getting a brand new 2014 and couldn't be more excited.
I wish I could have afforded one at 28. But really, don't work just to pay for a car. Get it when you can afford it to truly enjoy it. Or, buy used to keep you somewhat satisfied for a while.
