I'd like to see Caddy go after the S class, Bentley, Ghost and Phantom. The Eldorado Coupe would directly compete with the Bentley Mulsanne starting at $150 000.
Revive all the old Caddy names.
The Caddy 16 would compete with the Phantom at an entry price of $500 000 for the short wheel base model.
The Caddy de Ville goes after the s Class with a Coupe de Ville 2 door version from $75 000.
The Fleetwood Brougham would compete with the Ghost starting at $200 000. CTS name will be Seville at current price points.

I remember doing my Museum Delivery factory tour in 2007. When we passed the XLR section I had our guide ask a couple of guys how many XLRs they built in a day. The answer... 1 to 4. I doubt GM will be trying that again.

I always thought, "Man, if you want a Corvette, get a Corvette." If Cad ever decides again that they can make money with a sports car, it should be more fundamentally different IMHO.

I think that is a pretty stupid idea. Isn't there enough performance competition within GM? Why make an ersatz Corvette for Cadillac? The XLR was a bad idea from the beginning. I'd much rather they offer up an upscale model of Corvette to keep the halo shiny.

There is a guy up here that has that weird Caddy. When he sees my 'Vette at the light, he turns, even though I know he intended to go straight. It isn't a caddy or a corvette. It is a bloat boat.

I would love to see a new XLR based on the C7. Just this time, make it more curvy.

To this day, I still can't believe the XLR was not a success. It is suck a beautiful car, especially the V series. It's a shame really. I don't understand it. Caddy deserves a beautiful convertible.

It's called being UNDERPOWERED!

I almost bought one instead of my C6 but it was way underpowered.

It would be awesome to see a XLR-V with the LS9 motor detuned

Really? Is that why the XLR did not sell? Did the XLR really need to be as powerful as the alpha vette? It's a caddy...its competitors were the SL500 and BMW..both of which were also heavy convertibles. Sorry, but I don't see that as being the issue.

"Way underpowered?" For what...the track? The car was plenty fast for its segment and competitors. Correct me if I am wrong...but the car was never intended to be a track rat. Fast highway cruiser, but not a track monster. If that is what you were expecting, you were looking for the wrong car.

Why would they put that northstar v8 crap in a re-bodied Corvette and call it a Caddy? That was a dumb idea and it didn't sell. Hope they don't do that again.

If they want to make an Audi or BMW-like 4 seat convertible, that's OK by me but leave the Corvette market alone.

I had an XLR before my C6. So I can tell you about both cars.

To this day I have never owned a car that got so much attention as the XLR. Everywhere I went in that car I always got lots of questions

The car is a more luxurious that the Corvette. Ride is better, hot/cold seats, quiet with top up, better Bose system

As for the power it was good but not what a C6 is. The XLR wasn't built for speed or the track.

Dislikes about the car.

Less interior room than the Corvette. Lets say you want to take your coat off you have to put it in the trunk No pass through from inside the car.

Nav system worse than the C6

No rear sway bar (only the V car)

Poor gas mileage about 14 in town

The top has problems up/down lots of failures(my car never broke)

They eat body control modules(my car had 4 in 27,000 miles

Water leaks in trunk (my car had all of carpet replaced once because of a leak)

Water Pump failure is high

Even with the problems I still liked the car and would buy another one someday but wouldn't sell or trade my Vette to own one

Anybody buying an XLR my advice would be to go to a dealer and run the vin# and see what the service history was on it. Some are Ok and some will shock you.

Cadillac priced the car to high $76,000 in 04 $85,000 by 2009 and the V car was $100,000 base price. If the car was say $60,000 it would have sold better.

It is the Mercedes SL segment we are talking about. You don't see Corvette as a competitor there do you?
