removing the Z51 spoiler
Would this be easily done? I like the suspension of the Z51 but prefer the non-spoiler look.

I wonder if this isn't a dealer-installed option. It looks to me like its just a stick-on deal but this might have just been a quick way to stick it on for early shows. You can see the bare small spoiler with the larger spoiler lying on the hatch with what looks like some 3M adhesive strip on it. I don't see any screws or holes anywhere.

Since it's standard equipment with the Z51 package, it would be installed at the factory not at a dealer. And most likely it's screwed down at the outer edges like all the other GM spoilers on the C6 (racing & ZR1). So, removal isn't really an option.

I asked my high allocation dealer to please look into possibility of a spoiler-delete option on the order and they got back to me with it's not going to happen. And yes it's bolted down because you don't want to be relying on 3M tape at 190MPH.
If you can find the GM designer/engineer review video (the one with the PowerPoint slides) you will hear him say that they put the spoiler on for greater stability and traction for Z51 and also removed the center section of the front ground spoiler to balance the effect, so I can see why they don't want to delete at factory.
I too wish it could be easily deleted. I find the plain rear deck and fastback fade in the base model to be far more attractive to my eye than the look of the spoiler.

I asked Tom Hill this very same question at Carlisle. He indeed looked at me like I was nuts for asking...but he said you would have holes where the bolts attach it. Not a good option. Hope this helps.

Hmmmm.... this is no good. I don't like the rear spoiler at all, but would order a Z51 with MSRC.

Not exactly keen on having body work an a brand new $60k car. Plus colors like Velocity Yellow can be horrid to match. An easier option would be painted plugs. That said, I hope GM ads a spoiler delete option. I wonder, if you go watch your car be built, could you somehow get them to toss the spoiler in the trunk.

You won't notice any difference in any manner of street driving and the difference would be negligible on track.
I race a C5 and have run in classes with aero and without. Aero works, but something this minor would only provide a little additional high speed traction and stability under braking. Not enough to matter for my intended use of a C7.

I have a Z51 on order and do not care for the rear spoiler either .. The details are everything.
I was just wandering around Carlisle and found a few base cars tucked away on the hills and just loved the car without the spoiler.
Spoiler is the perfect name because it really spoils the look of the car...Jmho

I decided to go with the base suspension package because the base C7 outperformes my cirrent C6. How much extra performance do I need when you arn't at the performance limit of your current car. I do like the look without the huge spoiler, however not opposed to the Z51 spoiler either.
