Default of all the things to carryover from C6..why the squeaky roof latch?

if anything needed a redesign it would be that...even my 09 still does it with all the "fixes"

Correct me if I am wrong but I do not believe it was the latch making the noise but where the two "spikes" on the side made contact with the body.

The rear latch WAS REDESIGNED. Originally, they'd announced that there were only two carryover parts: the cabin air filter and the rear top latch. But at the Reveal in January, Tadge announced that they had just run the first crash test and the rear latch had failed with the less flexible carbon fiber roof installed.

It's the front latches that squeeked, not the rear.

The creaking is one thing I won't miss. I think about that every time I drive on a surface that flexes the body just enough to make the roof complain.

Like the others said, it's not the rear latch, it's the surfaces of the front latches.

Whaaaat! Squeaky roof latch! Why didn't someone warn me?

That's the last straw, I'm cancelling my order.

Unfortunately, my Z06 has never been blessed with that wonderful disease. Just another reason for me to hate my over powered, over wide, over tire width, under weight, obsolete C6 Z06. I wanted a creaking, popping targa top on my Z06 and GM failed to deliver.

Entered into a lottery for valvetrain geometry issues versus squeaky roof.....I'd take the squeaky roof. But to be fair, the C7's teething problems will be showing themselves in due time.

A friend has a GS coupe and his wife could care less about my Z06 dropping a valve, but the creaking, popping top drives her crazy, almost to the point that she refuses to ride in their GS coupe when the targa is in place.

Doesn't matter what the 0-60 is, if the little annoying things like creaking, popping tops, make you not like to ride around in your expensive toy.

You jest indeed.
But it's like water torture, resistance is futile you will become thoroughly annoyed in a short period of time.
So mean ole targa top taught me to weep and moan - sound track to Led Zeppelin's "When the Levee Breaks".

Those were redesigned as well. I had no idea since neither my 2005, 2007 or 2010 squeaked. I had the transparent tops. I wonder if that was limited to the opaque top?

Is that something weatherstrip dressing/vaseline could fix? That sounds silly but if it works, a small price to pay to be able to pop the roof.

He has spend hours trying different fixes, adjustments, lubes, etc, to no avail. It's not because he is stupid either. He has a PhD in electrical engineering and retired from that place in New Mexico that does nuclear design.

of all the things to carryover from C6..why the squeaky roof latch?
They want you to feel right at home.

Or, you can just put the roof where it belongs--under the hatch!

Now, cryin' won't help you, prayin' won't do you no good,
When the targa top squeeks, mama, you got to move.
