Default New display at the Corvette Museum

I though y'all would enjoy the two new cars on loan to the NCM from GM.

These went on display this morning.

Enjoy.

First up is the 2011 Grandsport powertrain mule.

Remember these photos that leaked out early amidst speculation that this was in fact a C7 in a clever disguise?

Well, you were right. That actual car is at your museum on display in the Engineering area. This is an early C7 powertrain stuffed under a 2011 GS body. Mules are used to test concepts, parts and electrical systems and they can hide in plain sight.

Next up is one of the earliest C7 Integration Vehicle (IVER). The IVERs come next after the mules run and do their thing. The IVERs are used to prove out concepts and validate design and fitment.

Hey, great thread!

I remember that GS mule from my recognition that the C7 might not have a rear anti-sway bar! The pic of that car showed me the evidence. Other pics (in the snow) later on confirmed it.

Really shows just how much work goes into designing and producing a new car. Some folks around here think it's so easy and how they could do a far better job. So many little pieces all working together to create something. Things have to be aesthetically appealing, fit/finish has to be excellent, components have to be easy to service and easy to produce/assemble etc.

Thanks Paul, very cool.

I want to see one of the test cars without camo sporting these trailer lights. I have to see how they were mounted, that was brilliant those things should have won me a case of Sam Adams.

Wow. I really never thought about C7's hiding under C6 bodies let alone those aspects of the development. Thanks for posting the pictures and details.

Since the spacing on the wheel wells of the GS mule are short, does this mean wide body for the C7 Hi-Po ?
