Z51 Pkg. With summer only tires

Safety Car
Check Tire Rack.com and other Michelin tire suppliers, as Michelin has developed an all season tire for the C7.
Note that the caution for carefully using the tires in cold weather applies to both the Z-51 and the entry level car's tires.

I also live in the northeast and drive my c6 z51 on summer tires all year round.
I drive about 10 k miles a year and just drive carefully ..
There will be winter tires out shortly for the c7 should you choose to go that route.
I do not drive the day of the snow storms but the day after has never been a problem...even the year we had over 100 inches of snow a few years back.
Inexpensive wheels for the c6 have run around a hundred a piece and then the tire and sensor...I had a set and never bothered to put them on. I just didn't need them.
I grew up driving rear wheel drive cars in the mid seventies so driving a corvette all winter in the northeast is no big deal....even with summer only tires..
If you must travel every single day even on snow days? Then get winter tires as they are set to become available....
Some guys buy beaters and some use their gm bonus credit card points to lease a basic subsidized lease on Chevy Malibu or Chevy cruise for no money down and 140 dollars a month...
Figure 3000 in gm bonus card points takes care of the usual 1000 down and knocks off 60 bucks a month off the advertised payment of ~200 a month..(usually at the end of the year gm credit card increases allowable discounts on some models or at least they have in the past )
Other choice...check out www.legendleasing.com these guys deliver in the tri state area and everyone I've ever sent there has been pleased with their low cost 600 bank fee and under 200 dollar a month small basic car lease..
Can't use gm bonus points with legend so I picked this up off their site as an example http://www.legendleasing.com/Civic_LX
Other option is pick up short term swap a lease cars for your daily driver during winter.
I investigated all of these and just have been using my c6 with summer rubber for the past 5 years....never an issue.
Hope this helped.

I sold the GTO in June and picked up a 2012 Hyundai Sante Fe Limited (ie loaded) for $ 23K. It's coyote ugly, but it's a bargain. It will go in any snowfall, haul lumber, bushes, groceries, the kids crap, etc.
The Stingray will get from mid-Nov. to mid-March off. Theoretically, you're not supposed to drive on the new Michelins below 40 degrees F. I had great luck with a set of Dunlop Wintersports on my GTO - they made the car pretty agile, even in 4" deep snow, but that car didn't have air dams, etc., like the Vettes.
I've seen Vettes stuck in the snow - lots of profanity and wheel spinning - pitiful sight.

I'm going with the Michelin Pilot All Seasons. They already come in the proper sizes. I'm just waiting for someone to sell some painted Z51 wheels that I could mount them on.

I wouldn't want to know how much a 20" winter tire is going to cost, just for 18" Blizzaks it costs $650/tire, my cost $327.
I looked at our tire wholeseller's order site, they don't have any available in 20" yet, hopefully when winter nears they will stock some.

The latest tire fitment guide for Corvettes at their website is up and lists C7s. Just type 69693 in the search box at top right of the Michelin home page and the one link that will result is it. The 69693 is the model # of the front tire for base Stingray.

You can get Dunlop Wintersport 3D's in a 245/40/18" for $300.00 each. They look like Chuka boots for your car. Should fit front and back - you really don't want a wider back tire for snow !! (Trust me)

Melting Slicks
Or, Will it be possible to put non-Z51 wheels on a Z51 car?

Thats the only z51 snow tire I could find that would match front and rear. It's been stated but a wide rear tire for snow is not advised. I have it now on my BMW 3 and its not fun.
Also, might be better to buy a winter beater for cheap. I got a Jeep Liberty for such a thing for around 7k. Might end up being cheaper than tires
