Is the Z51 a "Base" Corvette?

Dude, I like corvettes too, had 5 of them, but you really need to stop comparing them to Ferrari , lambo, and all the other true exotic cars, they are not in the same world

Chevrolet calls this a 1LT (2LT/3LT) with Z51 Performance Package on their site! It is NOT a separate model in my opinion, contrary to option order numbers, etc.) on Chevrolet's own site.
Yes, the Z51 has a lot more going on. It is an OPTIONAL equipment package.
I won't debate it. As others have said, call it what you want to. When they introduce a different model with a more powerful or at least different engine, I'll consider it as a separate model.

The "911 S" is the next model up with more HP, etc than a "911".

that car doesn't have to say anything but FERRARI, I would pour gasoline on every vette, viper, mustang , GN and basically every other car I've ever owned, light a match, set them all on fire, if that earned me ownership of an Enzo.

ps the Enzo was surpassed by its successor:

If Ferrari considers it OK to not have to tell the world the name of the one car to carry their founder/longtime owner legendary car builder's first name then I think it's OK for a Stingray to not spell it out on the outside of the car. If you disagree, take it up with GM.

The car being released in the "Stingray" model...the ONLY model....period. The model is indicated by what GM puts on the car...anything beyond that is simply an option. If the Stingray logo were removed and Z51 badge were there, then it'd be a Corvette Z51.
It's a Stingray...the end.
The next car will be the Z0"x" and will likely have appropriate badging to indicate it's not a Stingray/entry level model.
If you buy a 2014, you're buying a Stingray with the Z51 option, not a Corvette Z51.

If the Z51 were a separate model, then both the Z51 and non-Z51 would not share the Stingray name.
For example, with then hi-po version comes out it won't be Corvette Stingray Z07, at least I don't think it will.
Even still, a $2,800 add on, without any difference in body width, does not equate to a separate model, even if it has a separate model code.

Back in "the day" it was all about RPO codes. Now they have special models so you can tell everyone how much "specialerer" you are.
I have a 2003 Z06 by the way. NOT a 2003 Corvette!

My first Corvette was the roadster with a 300 HP 327 c.i. engine. An acquaintance owned a coupe with an L88 and M22 tranny. He could stomp me every which way but loose. He knew it and I knew it. But it was an option, nothing more, albeit one that cost about 25% of the price of the base car cost.
The Z51 has been a suspension optional PACKAGE for years. When they bring out the C7 Z07, or whatever they call the higher powered MODEL Chevrolet will introduce, I'll accept that as other than a base Corvette with a Z51 package.
You, and others, can call an optioned car a separate model. That's good.

Well it does have a plaque that says "Enzo Ferrari" on center console but I guess it still says Ferarri.

So is the original Z06 a Z06 or an RPO Z06?
Also I was referring to "CURRENT" owners of L88 Corvettes. You missed the point of my comment. It was to show that back in the 60s and 70s no one cared about RPO codes and special models. They had a "Corvette". People have recently needed to differeniate themselves from those "lesser" base models so Acura, Lexus, Infinity, and Z06/Grand Sport/ZR1/Callways were born.
People will pay at least $10,000 just to be able to say they have something "higher end".
FYI did I mention I have a 2003 Z06?
Also I was born in 1981, my dad was barely a driver in 1967. Man he loved Stingrays. He always wanted one and died at 54 never having owned a single Corvette. He and I would be having a blast right now. I plan on getting my son involved early. My wife says he is going to end up loving bicycles and dancing
