GM Over Charging For Interior Packages
Just a few years ago you didnt have to pay $8000.00 to get door panels and carpets color matched. I never knew colors went up that much in price...

I also couldn't pay $2000 for chroming wheels, $695 to paint calipers a different color when they are already being painted, $1200 for exhaust that I will replace, $795 for navigation that will get me lost when google nav will stream to the car's audio, $1800 for Mag Ride that will cost me a small fortune to fix when it goes out, and $20,000 in other stuff they offer.
They did get me for $60,000 though.

You're not paying $8000, you're paying $3000. That's the difference between a 3LT (which includes navigation) and a 2LT + navigation (which is available as a stand-alone option with 1LT and 2LT). The $3000 difference gives you the added color plus leather-covered dash and door panels (areas that are not genuine leather with 1LT and 2LT). It also gives you a higher grade of leather throughout vs. the type that's used in 1LT and 2LT cars.

That's why it is an OPTION! No one is forcing you to buy it but for those that want the upgraded leather they have the choice. Porsche would have charged $10,000 so Vette buyers are still getting a bargain.

...and under-charging for the Z51 at $2,800.
...and under-charging for the car starting at $51,000 + delivery
Plus, they are giving you a WIDE variety of choices (called options) to get the car the way you want it within a budget range ($52k to $75k+) that might work for you.

Agreed. With the C7 one has a fantastic world class supercar at bargain basement prices including options. Course if one doesn't want options, they can do without. The rest of us will load up on them and enjoy the fabulous deal we get on these top shelf enhancements and not worry about replacing things like awesome integrated with the Z51 mag shocks way down the road.

Yup, they did. "Gray" has gone up at a rate 2x higher than inflation and just in the past 2 years "Red" has gone berzerk. I mean, just look at the price of tomatoes. ...and don't even get me going on "Brownish/Orange".

Also painting calipers red instead of black and wheels black instead of silver is not a top shelf bargain price. It is a bunch of free profit that is going to keep GM around.I am sure if we both go to the track and race our cars the winner will come down to the better driver and not the shocks. If we could both drive 100% of the car's capabilities then it would give an edge. Speaking personally I can't exceed the car's limit and if I could then I would be a race car driver and the option cost wouldn't matter because it would be free to me.
Awesome feature for some, not for me. That is why there are options.

There was no 1LT for any year of C5 production so I'm not sure what you're referring to.

Go buy a Porsche and you will find out about a** rape
You obviously have infinite money or don't keep your cars. $2000 for shocks is a hard pill to swallow when your car is worth $25,000 AND you already paid $1800 for them up front. If you don't pay off your Corvettes and keep them forever then this would be of little concern to you.

It's not. In fact, the 2014 1LT gives you a choice of three colors (black, gray, and red) whereas a 1LT C6 was only available in solid ebony. Moving up to 2LT or 3LT adds more surfaces in the alternate color but you still get colored seats with 1LT.

To get interior wrapped in leather like what the C7 offers in a C5, it costs over $12K. (That's with pulling and installing panels yourself.)
$3K (and even $8K) is worth it. Especially when you don't have to pull the interior apart to put it all in and the car is just "done". No rattles from pulling things apart and all covered under the warranty.

GM like all businesses are here to make money. Be glad GM's option prices are NOWHERE near their competitors, despite offering a superior product in my opinion. In addition, the base price is FAR LOWER...
