exactly....LOL
and now let's really get you pissed off..my other guess:
it is being supplied so the car gets to the dealer clean without the expense of covered transport - not because it's supposed to be a great gift to the customer....instead of cosmoline/treatments or Mylar applications like other mfrs....

^ PS: Cosmoline largely went the way of the Dinosaur, and the shipping film treatments are Vinyl not Mylar . . .

Respectfully:
1. Fact is, the C7 shipping covers allow full ingress to car, without being removed, for starting and driving.
2. Fact is, you have no idea what the Dealer instructions are re; the covers from Team Corvette
3. Fact is, you have no idea what the cover is constructed of
So why do you act like you are know it all about this topic Mr "Dealers since the dawn of time use the same inspection procedure for all cars"?
Why don't folks stick to what actually know rather than posturing and posing with no expertise . . . . .

And pretty much anybody who has bought a new car recently has gotten one of the cheap white covers with their car. It collects dust for a bit and then is thrown away.

And I would venture that based on his working in the industry that he has that he knows pretty much exactly what he stated. On the other hand, what we know from you is that you like to open mouth and insert foot.

^ Thanks kindly for bringing such valuable insight and other worldly perspective to a discussion that has nothing to do with you. All of us are enlightened.

I will keep the shipping cover and I will save it only as a keepsake, because I prefer a higher quality cover. Here's a photo of the type of cover that I ordered last week for my C7. I hope it gets here soon because my Stingray has to be covered every night.

Before this thread becomes the usual C7 bickering fest, let's all watch Bob Ross wash his brush to calm down. Always works for me.

Platinum Supporting Dealership
Kerbeck was the testing dealer for these covers. Last year they shipped a load of C6s here with the covers on them. People from Detroit and BG were here to see how they held up, how they were to get off, how they worked, etc.
They are paper and are for one time use. There is no guarantee that it won't be ripped taking it off of the car but if you want to safe it, let the dealer know.
Don't expect the dealer to leave it on the car. It must be removed while the truck driver is still there so the car can be inspected. If damage is found after the driver leaves it comes out of the dealer's pocket.

Also, instead of worrying about the cover and the dealer signing for it, I would be worried the dealer is going to want to drive this thing and take it for a spin right when it comes in. You would be better off camping out at the dealer and watching its every move because every tech, salesman, manager, etc etc is going to want to sit in and drive this thing. Good luck.
My C7 is the first one my dealer is getting. As such, the General Manager and I have agreed I pick it up as quickly after it comes off the transporter as possible. Minimum PDI, no cosmetic prep, I'll even get the gas myself. I'm not risking Bubba in the prep department using the same old dirty rag like sandpaper or Joey Bag of Donuts doing donuts with my new car. Thankfully, the GM is very understanding and willing to honor my OCD requests. And he says he's had others do the same.
