Default How long before a new C7 owner blows his 'tuned' LT1?

So when will the first guy who gets a 'tune' (with the removal of certain functions) blow it? Lets chose a period of time from now till it happens, if at all.

Depends upon if the vendor that made the heads are the same folks that milled the heads on the LS7......

I give it a year. That's enough time for that one idiot to let his buddy/new shop try tuning his car for the first time, and then drive on the crap tune long enough to break something.

If rev limiter is "tuned out" it won't take long at all.

It took my Mustang a few hundred miles to blow a #8 and that was one of the largest tuners for the mustang community LOL! The new C7 hmmm less than a month hahaha, Wonder who's the first member that will get the first tuned then 32 miles latter blown LT1!

keep pushing the limits until you find it then figure out what failed and rectify it or decide to limit yourself a few steps back.

You go ahead and you can figure out what failed on your car. Be sure to report it all to us in detail...that way we'll know how the poll went.

This is why you don't R&D customer cars. You want to try to tune something set to kill? Do it with a shop car. Or don't do it at all. Every tuner worth his salt is going to tune a little bit fat, leaving some power on the table for safety's sake. But for every 10 of those, there's some guy who think he can eke every last lbs/ft of torque out of a motor.

Come on Louis....you know the same style hollow stem sodium valve with iron sintered guides that has been used in the LS7, are also being used in the C7's LT1. No problems with my bone stock strong running LS7 as well as the 20,000+ others.

I've been the modded route on my Mustangs before. Never, ever, again. Modded cars are nothing but a non-stop pita. I do not know a single person with a modified car - regardless of brand - that hasn't experienced 1000s in repairs.

Just as an FYI. GM is cracking down big time on doing warranty for blown or hurt motors.

Have a Dealer mech friend that says they can absolutely tell if you've been in the computer messing with things even if you put the stock tune back in.
He said they guys getting picked on the most right now about this stuff is the diesel truck owners.
