Default Let the price gouging begin (on Ebay)

Looks like some new owners of the stingray are trying to take advantage of the laws of supply and demand:

A Cyber Grey 2LT for $76K (I love the q&a section of this listing)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Corvette-2LT-2014-chevrolet-corvette-stingray-c-7-coupe-2-door-6-2-l-/300974312754?forcerrptr=true&hash=item4613778d32&item=300974312754&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
A black 3LT for $77,900

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Corvette-Stingray-Coupe-2-Door-2014-chevrolet-corvette-stingray-z-51-coupe-2-3-lt-auto-/200965351485?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2eca77e83d&item=200965351485&pt=US_Cars_Trucks
Anyone else thinking of doing this type of activity with their cars?

It only gouges if you let it happen to you.

Nothing wrong for asking a crazy price, if the potential buyer doesn't care, oh well its their money. I won't be seriously considering a C7 until 2016 anyways, plenty of time for prices to drop before then lol.

It is called the free market...thank God we still have that freedom. Most places in the world you have to go to the black market.

Priced too high, but at least those aren't the sort of deceptive ads we've all seen where the bid is actually a silly high $xxx above MSRP.. well hidden (purposely) in the item description.

it's good for the corvette market... just let it happen.

it's like the gold iphones... it shows they are wanted/in demand and therefore people see value and desire in that... the market of anything is "fake"... so its better to be "fake high" than "fake low"..

just call a dealer and wait, people are paying extra for the ability to not have to wait.. happens all the time and again, a VERY good thing.

You can wait, that is a good idea because there will be improvements and changes. But do not expect the price to drop, that ain't happening.

While I agree the price is certainly ridiculous, the dealer has the right to list the car at whatever price he sees fit. If someone buys it, good for them. If not, the dealer will be forced into lowering his price if he wants to sell the car. That's just how the market works. The real moron is the one who asked the question on the first listing. Bragging about his POS ducati?? Give me a break.

I was actually expecting a higher price than those 2 posted. Its all about supply and demand......Harley dealers do that all the time, some dealers more than others.

I fully expect in 3 years a vette can be had for under msrp, likely with a nice rebate or dealer cash back incentive. Some things never change, discounted new vettes after the first few years of a new generation will happen.

Buying today gives very little price wiggle room as dealers are looking for msrp, as expected, the C7 will be a hot seller.

There are stupid people. So if want to throw money down the toilet, its their money.

They will be dealing shortly. LOL LOL 2015 will be out soon. So by early summer
trying to move out all the old 2014's. When some take delivery, will be a
year old model, and the next year be out in a few months.

Yea I don't see anything wrong with this either... We do this in real estate all the time, supply and demand... Free market is a great thing...

I have certainly paid more for some things because of my lack of patience, and I have certainly turned a decent profit on things when I sold them... Matter of fact, I built a new home a couple of years ago, and sold it for $35k more than I bought it for just 2 years later, and built a house next door for $60k less. Buyers didnt want to build a new home and due to supply and demand they would be paying more for the house if they built from scratch anyways...

So to answer the question about if I'd do that with my own C7... I doubt it. But if I got in a financial bind between now and Spring, I have no sentimental attachment to material stuff, so I could easily sell it if I knew I could get an extra $10k+, but that's definitely not the plan.

With the money you save I can sell you some damp property in Florida..

I know your a bright guy. You can't possibly believe what you said is true. If, in fact, the economy was still in the hole maybe, but not anymore.

PS. I did not get chrome wheels with my car..are you proud of me?
