Default Z51 constraint

Any idea when the Z51 ordering constraint will be lifted?

It has been mentioned that it is about four weeks. I am ordering Z51 as well and am first or second on my dealers list.

I spoke to john Fitzpatrick the marketing manager
For the stingray Sunday at the stingray precision drive ,
At Monticello raceway.he said its definitely gonna be weeks before the Z51 constraint is lifted,
And GM is working round the clock to resolve
The vendor shortage

Did you ask (or do you know) what specifically is holding up the Z51 option? Is it the e-diff or what?

Does this mean, if this 4 week+ delay on Z51 orders is pushing back all Z51 builds, does the guy who is sitting at #40 on a dealer's list can now expect his car even more than one month later than predicted in Spring 2014?

Are dealers calling all their pre-sold Z51 orders to see if they want to change their order to base C7's in order to get their cars sooner? And if this is true it will significantly change the pecking order of the wait list.

My Z51 order was moved to 3400 two weeks ago with a TPW of 10/14 but as of today it's now back to 3000 with no TPW. The only thing on the order that was constrained with Z51, so it looks like existing orders are now being hit, at least for 10/14 TPW's...

I'm wondering if that old saying holds true, "Lost time is never regained."

This 4 week delay might go all the way down the production schedule for the 2014 production year. Unless GM cranks up production after the Z51 delay is corrected the build list will always lag one month behind, maybe more.

Some here may remember that the same thing happened when the C6 was introduced in model year 2005 - Z51 was on constraint for a good part of the model year. I had a Z51 coupe with 6-speed manual and navigation on order and nearly went crazy during my 12 week wait. I thought seriously about canceling my order and buying out of dealer stock (this was late in the model year). The only problem was that largely due to the constraint there weren't any to be found with my order's configuration. In the end I bit the bullet, waited, and eventually got my car but the wait was painful.

So every Z51 scheduled for production, is on standby now because of this constraint?

As other's have said, the same issues came up during the first year or so of C6 production. It's very difficult to predict options, suspensions, colors, interiors, etc people are going to want and plan accordingly. To many of us ordering Z51/Mag Ride, NPP is a must have. To many others, they don't feel that way. Go figure.

I agree that Z51 for 2800 is a steal especially when coupled with the mag ride and it's very reasonable up charge. However there are a lot of cheap ----- running around out there who won't pay for anything extra or have some convoluted logic why the base suspension is a better setup than the carefully developed Z51/mag ride NPP combo. Trying to get into the minds of the goofball public is an art not easily mastered. Being in the car business, you probably know all about that.
