Picked up Lime Rock Green Z-51 Today!!! Quick Review, Pics, & Video...
Well, well, well...
Thanks to Rick Conti for taking care of me and my car! He's like the Hardest working man in show business, I mean Corvette business
So where should I start... Man, I would consider myself one of the more patient folks in the saga to get a C7. I ordered with Rick Conti back in June, and car arrived on Wednesday of this week (10/2/13). I took delivery today around 10:30am. My experience was great. No complaints really. I would be happy to see Chevy learn from their lack in communication for new car orders, but so far, in my 2 or 3 hours driving the car, I must say they have produced a great product!
So my review will mostly be compared to recent cars I've owned in the past as a reference point to determine if something is to my liking or not so much. I currently own a 2013 Chrysler 300 SRT8 and a Dodge Ram 1500. I sold my 2007 C6, which had just under 600rwhp. I've recently owned the new Audi S4, Audi S6, BMW 335 turbo, WRX STI, Mitsubishi Evo, Ford Musting GT, Mercedes clk55amg, and a twin turbo RX7 back in the day which was fast as hell...
Anyways, on to my quick review.
What I love about the car:
What is questionable about the car (so far):
So there is my unbiased review. I love the car! So far I've seen mostly reviews with all pros and no cons. There is no such things as a perfect car, but this car is damn near perfect for me.
You will love driving the car. It's very predictable and fun! It won't take a lot of mods or customization to get this car in the sweet spot for most owners. Actually I'd predict most folks will leave it as is. As for me I'll probably upgrade the stereo after installers get some experience with these cars.. Get windows tinted... Lower it a bit more, and finally add a little power through bolt ons etc.
Ah yes, and the video and pics!!
Oh yea and if you are one of "those" better have my car spotless customers, don't be offended please haha
Here are a few pics!

Anyways, on to my quick review.
What I love about the car:
- Pleasantly surprised with the acceleration and torque!
- Love the exhaust note! It sounds better in person rather than on videos.
- I'll say gas mileage, even though I have yet to check that on mine hehe
- Love the instrument cluster and all of the options available
- Love the window auto up and auto down for driver and passenger side
- Love the looks the car gets from folks... It gets alot of attention but not too much to where there are big crowds or car wrecks.
- Cornering is better than any car i've ever driven!
- The ride quality is excellent imho.
- No squeeks and rattles from the interior.
- Steering feel is excellent! I love that the wheel is not difficult as hell to turn when not moving, unlike my Chrysler 300 SRT8
- Appears to be easy to clean/detail.
- Interior!!! Need I say more? It's killing the C6 interior...
What is questionable about the car (so far):
- First thing I was a little disappointed with was the stereo. It is "good" and sound quality is decent at low volume levels, but I know I may be on an island by myself, but my C6 stereo system sounded better to me. Alot better. At higher volume levels this bose system seems to compensate and change the equalization, or the speakers can't keep up with each other, and the sound goes south as you turn it up, not with distortion but with the sound being out of balance (highs vs lows vs mids). My C6 system played loud and clear and i never had to crank it up all the way to get the appropriate sound level, considering the top might come off etc. I had to turn the sound way up in my C7 on the free way with the windows down and was about to run out of volume. This probably will have to be upgraded for me to be more than 60% satisfied with it.
- The space in the drivers side foot well is kind of cramped. Taking my foot off the clutch and resting it on the foot pad and then going back to the clutch presented a little problem. Smaller shoes could help I guess. Not anything major but was kind of annoying.
- Navigation map did not have my street on it (new development, but by now my house is over a year old). That kind of sucked. But I guess one day this gets fixed with an update. Hopefully its free over the air like Audi's, BMWs.
- The exhaust note in Track mode sounds great, but its not as loud as I thought it would be based on videos. In the car you can hear it but I would not consider it "loud" compared to my C6 which had full exhaust and borla system. It might sound perfect with high flow cats (or no cats) and full exhaust...
- While I have adapted to the rear end, and I like it. I fear that if GM changes the rear end in the next year or two, our cars will look outdated
- Thats about it for the "not so much" category... Biggest thing I hoped would be better was the radio. I see why nobody really went into much detail about it in the car review magazines attempting to say that it was super great when in reality its a little above average for new cars these days.
So there is my unbiased review. I love the car! So far I've seen mostly reviews with all pros and no cons. There is no such things as a perfect car, but this car is damn near perfect for me.

Gorgeous car! Congrats. You are not the first person to comment on the stereo. It was the one item I was disappointed in when they announced specs. I've never heard a Bose system I liked, car or otherwise. Their systems are universally lacking in mid range and sound to bright and tinny to me.

Very nice!
I would like to hear how you like the ride with Z51 without MRC shocks after you get some miles on it.

Looks good. Thanks for the videos and the review. I also have a LRG ordered through Rick which Chevy Customer Service says has been delivered. Did you happen to see a LRG Z51 w/ kalahari and black wheels in the back lot today? Not that you had time to go looking at any of the other cars.

Could you elaborate a little more on ride quality and interior fit and finish compared to your 335? I've got an 11' 335 currently I'm considering replacing. I had an 08 z51 4LT and went to the 335 due to ride quality and the interior. Obviously the C7 is greatly improved, but I'm curious if it'll still be a step down in those two departments. Does the magnetic ride in tour really provide a comparable ride in your opinion?
Also, not sure if you've had it up to higher speeds yet, if so, can you comment on high speed stability? I honestly felt at 130mph plus the BMW felt more stable and controlled.
Thanks and enjoy your ride!

Check your radio settings. The Bose system has a number of settings and I believe the default setting has a lot of noise canceling processing going on. I'm pretty sure you can disable all that. It should sound better at higher volumes with that disabled.
Gorgeous car, that color looks great.

I didn't think the Bose stereo sounded bad, just that when you turned it up loud enough to really jam out, the bass was very distorted and drowned out everything else in the mix. I know, I know, just turn down the bass level. But doing that makes the radio sound less "full" at lower volume.
By the way, how did you find the blind spots when you were trying to reverse? That was the biggest problem I had my first day with my new baby.
