Stingray emblem a ripoff from a German car!

A "ripoff" or just another thread to say something, anything, negative about the C7 in the C7 section?
I think instead of a "ripoff," it's because they look alike, and that's why Chev. didn't call it a Manta Ray, along with the fact they used Stingray in the past
----
Thanks for the at least sharing the fact that the two look alike, but, are in fact different
Off to find another thread busting on the tail lights, tires, or something

The Opel GT of the sixties was designed to emulate the Corvette String Ray for the European market.
From Wickipedia:
The Opel GT is a two-seat sports car first presented as a styling exercise in 1965 at the Paris and Frankfurt motor shows, and introduced as a production model late in 1968 by Opel, a German subsidiary of General Motors. It relied partly on components from the contemporary Opel Kadett B and had a body made by French contractor Brissonneau & Lotz. Its styling has been likened to the 1968 Chevrolet Corvette which went on sale in September 1967.
GM, the parent of both Chevrolet and Opel seemed to use the names and emblems to leverage the Corvette mystique in Europe.
Geek On:
I do give GM credit for getting the subtle difference between the manta ray and string ray right. The stringray has a smooth point at the head whereas the manta ray has an open mouth with extensions on either side in the front.

The Corvette String Ray emblem was first. As others posted it dates back to 1959.

From Wickipedia:
Chevrolet also briefly used the Manta Ray designation for a 1969 Concept Car.
