Honest to God I tried to stay out of it but the car just keeps whispering "Daddy, I'm bored, gimme the big whip !!" I've taken mine to 6500 rpm three times with about 100 miles on the clock, but let it cool off immediately afterwards. I do intend to change oil and filter at 1000 miles.
It is just so sweet and so much fun to drive - It's hard to control the urge to "Whip It Good !"

As many have posted, the manual is available and has the break in procedure. Generally, avoid foot to the firewall acceleration and vary your speed for the first 500.
Not as big a deal as when I was first buying new cars in the mid 60's, but still a protocol to follow. Some won't and then complain about issues. The time to really baby your baby is its first days. Do it right and it will do right by you.

15 minutes after the engine first starts up the rings seal, the engine is broken it. Go out and rip on it. I used to built race engines for mustangs. During first start up the engine sounds like crap. About 10-15 minutes in everything gets heated up enough and the engine makes a completely different sound. Done.

GM has stated many times that the breakin procedure is for the entire drive train, not just the engine.

Most of the break-in period is for the gear sets - i.e. the trans and importantly the rear diff. If you let the gear sets have a chance to get to know each other a bit, you're less likely to have a noisy diff, for example, down the road.

Don't forget the clutch disc on the manual. High rev starts can cause glazing.
