In person sighting/surprises
Finally saw my first C7 in person today. Local dealer had a base, 1LT, M7, Silver, non Z51 on the floor today so finally got to see in person.
My observations in no particular order:
The Silver had NO orange peel that I could see.
The rear hatch closed with no problems
Door sills were in place
Panel alignments were good
The car needs to be lowered. I couldn't quite fist the gap but even I think it should be lowered and I have never lowered my Corvettes.
The lower rear fascia and the surrounds on the rear tail lights are not a plain gloss black. There is actually metal flake in the paint. You have to look closely but it is there. Probably would look great out in the sun.
The dashboard illumination issue is real and needs to be addressed by GM.
The seats are head and shoulders better than the C6. Good job Corvette team.
The rear view is awful. Even worse than my Boxster and the side windows, as posted before, are pretty much useless.
The hood is almost scary light weight. I wonder how well it will hold up. Didn't test the tonneau cover for weight.
Just sitting on the floor and car not running, there is a noticeable delay when shifting modes, have others noticed this?
Didn't drive it since it was a manual and I want an auto but I really liked the overall package and in a year or so, I may actually be in the market for a new C7. That will depend on reports here on CF and a test drive.
Overall, it's a Corvette, no doubt about that.
