Easier way to save Favorite?
Love the car, love the infotainment system. Only thing is that it seems awful difficult to save a favorite radio station to a memorized favorite. Any body got an easier way to store a favorite than:
1) find station
2) bring up favorites lists and hold empty button until it asks you to select station
3) go back to browse menu and select station you're listening to then hold it down
And don't even start on the Renaming the Favorites button, if battery ever fails, I'm doomed.
Any suggestions, recommendations or just plain laughter will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Heck, I think I just found a station and pressed the button for a few seconds that I want to save it to. It was pretty simple if you ask me. You mentioned naming a station. That has my curiosity. I didn't really consult my manual for anything. I found the car to be very intuitive and figured virtually everything out just by dumb thumbing my way through the various menu's and interfaces. Are you saying you can actually rename the menu buttons?? Do I actually need to check my manual for something I didn't know existed?
By the way, you can back up your config to an SD card and I would imagine that should you need to reset or disconnect the battery, the things you programmed like stations names should be restorable.

That's all there is to it. Pretty simple. Seems like I remember that to back up a letter, just hit an X or delete in the top right of the keypad screen. Helps with my typo errors.

Thanks Glen. I will have to play with renaming my stations this weekend. I will also need to do a test backup as that is one thing I have yet to do.

Here's one anomaly that is weird: if I set my iPod to shuffle in the car display, and have the auto memory recall set for "ignition on", it won't remember to start in shuffle. But if I set the recall for "with door opening" it will remember the shuffle....WTF?

How does one DELETE a favorite...wipe a single button without resetting everything to wipe personal data. I have a destination saved for a business that moved and the old destination was saved as a favorite button with the company's name. Now it's confusing and I want to get rid of it to save the new address.
I have looked through both the General and Infotainment manuals and can't find anything.

Easy fix in SW, that will only be available on 2015's and newer.
Solution:
1. Backup data.
2. Drive to dealer.
3. Buy new model.
4. Insert USB stick.
5. Navigate to "Restore backup data".
6. Enjoy.
Before anyone freaks out, this is a joke and hopefully not the way it's actually going to work out.

You keep mentioning that, but have you read their forum?

They seem to have abandoned the idea of side-loading apps and they want to use the AppShop to control all apps on the car. W/O the integrated modem, this seems rather unlikely for us.

With the announcement today it's mentioned that apps will only be available on 2015 models and only a few apps will be approved. Will apps ever be available on older models? What are the criteria for approval? It seems like it's possibly not worth the development effort if most apps won't be approved.
Apps will be available starting this year 2014 with the 2015 models. App support for older models is very unlikely. The AppShop will be launching with a limited number of applications, many more will be approved as they are developed and submitted. Guidelines / criteria are listed under in-vehicle here:

Storing to a memory location is easy. It's recalling that memory location by swiping the screen that is hard. Swiping the screen just doesn't work well. I much prefer the old hard buttons instead of this software stuff. So much simpler and yes I know I couldn't get 60 storage locations with the buttons but is 60 really needed? I've got by with 5 for 60 years.

My biggest issue is the "USB keeps playing when the car is off" thing. This is the only car on earth where you shut off the car, and when you come back the playback isn't where you left off. Try to listen to an audiobook that way!
Glen e, It seems like you've done some mods that may have needed the battery disconnected. Did any data disappear, did you restore it?

There are a bunch of other threads complaining about not being able to test/run non-approved/deployed apps on anything but the emulator. There is no side load method available. GM is citing safety concerns as a need for the restriction and that only official downloads can run on the cars.
