Bad enough you have a repair on paint.I'd be out of my mind now that it was in house.Check their work outside in direct sunlite.Check every panel on that car for any marks, rims and tires.Especially tires. These tires are soft compound.Any over driving will be seen in the thread pattern.Any evidence, new sneakers defiantly.Wish i could be their to help.I love snapping a people that don't respect other peoples property.
I'd be asking reverse questions to catch them lying.UNBELIEVEABLE!

Hey, someone needed to go get lunch for the crew.

A discussion with the service manager is in order. All cars that come in must have the mileage recorded. If there's 30 miles on it for a car wash, that's difficult to explain.

IMO, 30 miles added to the car is a minimal inconvenience, unless it was damaged somehow. Still, the loss of trust between you and the dealer is not insignificant, and should be handled in some manner.

I would plan out a couple scenarios in which you feel satisfied, and if you are not happy with the explanation for the additional mileage, see if the dealer can give you something to win back your trust.

For example:
1. Free/Discounted extended warranty - argument is that the car was still under break-in period and if it was taken on a 30 mile joy ride, who knows what issues might show up down the road. Extended warranty is something that will cover potential problems that may have been caused by exuberant launches.
2. Free series of oil/fluid changes - same argument
3. Corvette Jacket/memorabilia (maybe something from their parts department)

If you can figure out a compromise that gives you some peace of mind, makes you feel that justice was served, but isn't too costly for the dealer, then perhaps all parties can come away feeling satisfied. You will have been compensated for potential future issues, the dealer will have had a minor cost outlay but will have been able to provide a solution that keeps the customer happy.

I think just getting all PO'd might make the dealer get defensive, not admit to anything, and just basically tell you to take a hike and that the mileage was necessary for some BS reason.

I tend to put many miles on my cars, so for me an extra 30 isn't a big deal. But I would not be pleased that it was done without asking me about it. I would probably be happy with some floor mats or junk like that.

30 miles is a long way if they are beating the **** out of it, in the first 100 km of its life.

Asking for free corvette merch is kinda tacky imo, maybe some extra warranty consideration, if it turns out they were in the wrong.

Ok....lets assume 30 more miles are actually on it.

Yes, it's troublesome that someone else was driving your car and they didn't need to be.

Now the question is what do you actually expect them to do about it? They can't take the 30 miles back.

My suggestion is to just accept it, tell them you're not happy about it and won't come back, and then actually don't go back.

Like stated, 30 miles of an *** whipping in the first 100 miles of its life is certainly substantial. Don't ask me what I'd do...

WITH explicit instructions that the car does not leave the shop unless I'm in it.
While sitting in the waiting room, I saw my car blasting up the street.
It had just 800 miles on it.
I stopped myself just short of going over the counter at the idiot service manager.
That dealer will NEVER see my car and this story will be told over and over to warn people about them.
I don't know what these dopes are thinking. This is not their car, it's yours.
How would they like it if I took their car for a joyride to see how much abuse it would take?
These dealers need to clean up their act by educating their staff.

I'd love to find out what they will say in their defense if, in fact, the car was driven for no practical reason other than amusement.

What did the manager say to you about driving the car?

It use to be that when your car was in the shop for warranty work that any miles put on it and days in the shop were then added to the warranty. That is why the order says miles in / miles out.

So, I picked up my car today from the dealer. Here’s the good news/bad news:

GOOD NEWS

The car is perfect. The body shop guys fixed the defects I found and fixed others that I had missed:

• Misaligned rear quarter panel
• Paint defects on the quarter panel
• Paint defects on the rear hatch
• Poor join/seal around the hatch
• Scratches on the rear spoiler

I was worried about the Carbon Flash paint on the spoiler, and was especially worried about the Blade Silver paint matching on the rear fascia – they re-sprayed the entire rear fascia. Perfect match. Looks great.

BAD NEWS

Bad news is there was no glitch in my OnStar app. Someone drove my car the extra 30 miles and they have no clue who, where, or why. Had a nice calm chat with the service manager. I could see he was embarrassed and angry all at the same time. No resolution yet, but he promised me he’d get to the bottom of it and get back to me. So, for now, I guess I’m satisfied.

ON A SIDE NOTE

I hope none of you EVER have to see your new car like this…was painful to see

It sounds like the OP is taking a very mature approach. I like to think (err...hope!) I'd do the same!

Yeah, but did they fix your squeaky tail lights??

Seriously...OP deserves the CF7 Maturity Award for his approach to this all. And the VAST majority of the whiners here should be learning a lesson from him!!!
