GM 8 Speed auto trans...
Question:
Is it possible we will see the 8 Speed automatic transmission from the 2014 Cadillac CTS in the 2015 C7? I know the unit is mated to a 3.6 liter V6 in the CTS and not a V8, and I am no engineer, but it seems likely to me that since GM obviously already has an 8 speed auto on the shelf, with just a little tweaking it would be a natural to make its way into the Stingray

I personally think we will see some kind of upgrade to the auto within a year or two. My guess is an 8 speed torque converter unit for the 2015 model year, probably similar to what's in the new CTS like you said.

The2014 CTS 8 speed is a Aisin unit
If the corvette goes to a more economical 8 speed automatic it will be a gm built unit that is shared with the new pick up trucks in some derivative format

There will definitely be an 8 speed automatic in the near future. That's all I have to say about that.

I don't really understand the fascination with adding more gears to the transmission. Bigger/more doesn't equal better in many scenarios.

I'm guessing the 2015-16 MY will have a 10 speed auto. GM and Ford are currently working together on a 10 speed auto. Ford has already said the mustang will be getting it.

I really hope you are correct. I'd LOVE to see it available on the performance variant. What are the chances that will happen?
