I saw a yellow C7 today with the 1/2 bra-meaning it came half was up the hood. It looked better on yellow than red.

I had a 3M product on a 911 C4S half hood that was still doing its thing 3 yrs after install before I sold the car. Protected the paint under from several rock chip episodes.
Have a whole front end XPEL on a GT3 911 that has been on for over a year and no issues (car is mainly a track car). Also have clearplex on the windscreen that works well.
Wife's daily driver Boxster has no protection ; going on 44K miles and has lots of rock chips (doesn't bother her); would have to respray the hood and too much $ for car's value
Getting a XPEL front end on my AW at 3300 status; in the past I did not like the half hood look on a white car; older films (they are better now) tended to yellow or look obvious on a white car. Whole hood coverage is best IMO if you can afford it.

The top 3 films are all good enough. This product is a ware item, It is not a force field that looks brand new for ever. I try to explain it to customers that its a ware item like your brakes and clutch. The more you drive, the more it gets used/stained/marked. and just like your tires..... you have to replace when worn out. Then your back to a new showroom finish again. This is usually under a $1000 dollars to install, and saves you a lot more money and anger when you don't get the paint damage. NOTE: no matter how bad it gets to looking, Its still protecting. When you start to see it...... it time to renew. Most of us corvette people keep the car in super clean condtion, and the clear bras last longer with this care being taken. Put a bra on , Drive it like its supposed to be and enjoy your car without losing value by getting rock chips or a REPAINT!!!!!!

IMO, The calling goes
X-pel
3m/Venture shield
Sun Tec
But you'll get different opinions from different installers.
Some say scratch resistant/self healing. but if your scratching your cars surface, the films the least your worry. stop scratching your cars. use a micro fiber!!! yellowing is gonna happen in time because your putting a plastic on a white car. that's about the only time you'll see any yellowing is on white only. Again, if it's being seen, time to replace.

Don't know much about the product, but rock chips drive me crazy! How is the cars paint prepared before the Xpel is applied? If you want the deepest shine possible do you clay, polish, and wax before you apply the product or over the Xpel? If the Xpel is removed and replaced after 2-4 years, is there any discoloration between areas that were covered and areas that were not? Thanks, Mike

I have XPel on my C7 all the way around. On my Panamera I have XPel on the hood and front fenders, and 3M on the lower front bumper. The 3M is thicker and offers a little bit more protection, but has more orange peel and is a tad more visible than the XPel.
Whoever you go to, just ask the guy to put a couple of small sample pieces on the hood to see the differences and you can decide for yourself. (that's if he deals with multiple brands)
I live in Tampa and the guy I use does a phenomenal job. He also installs for several of the higher end dealerships.

Xpel vs. 3M
Can anyone provide any comparisons or recommendations on Xpel Ultimate vs. 3M Scotchguard? I know there are two different 3M products, with the Scotchguard being the better of the two.
Thanks.
Thanks.
