Default And it begins... Service Rear Axle

Driving on the highway and I got this Service Rear Axle message.

No check engine light and the Onstar rep says my AWD system needs to be serviced. LOL

My fluid levels were checked at PDI.

What were the fixes for the others that got that light?

Update:
11/21/13

Dropped off the car last week for this issue as well as a few other items and got my car back a week later.

They checked the levels and topped it off.

2300 miles on the ODO and I got the message again.

This time I was backing up with the steering wheel turned and heard and felt a slight clunk, felt like it was in the steering rack but maybe it was from the rear end?

Could just be a connector. Might be worth checking.

I'll throw it up on the lift tomorrow and see if it's something like a connector.

Completely forgot about that this AM! It happened this evening so that's not the excuse!

Hopefully it's something simple.

Wow, so your Corvette has AWD?

I guess all it needs now is DCT!

Too bad you got that warning message so soon after getting the car. Hope it is something relatively easy to fix.

Sorry to hear of your issue.

It gives you the option to "dismiss"?

Yes but it comes back when you start the car again.

It's obviously not a major fault as it lets you dismiss and doesn't say pull over.

So that is why the C5-C7 all have such a large wheel-well gap. We always thought Corvettes were AWD

I got the same light. Took the vette to the dealer. dealer pulled the rear facia did a bunch of diagnostic checks, checked for loose connections etc. Scanned diff controls got code C0393. Put it back together and said the code was gone and everythingwas fine. Since then I've gotten the same light several times. Called the dealer and he said they would call GM and get back to me.

Thanks for the heads up!

This AM I didn't get the message. Hopefully it's stored in memory and I plan on taking it in tomorrow night. Fingers crossed!

What is your current mileage and your vins last four? I called the dealer to get my ediff fluid
checked and was told the TSB just changed to a recall. He checked my vin and my car #3385 was not effected.
Good luck and hope they don't have to pull the rear end off.

1900 miles VIN 0387

Will keep all posted. With my luck the code won't be stored and it will just remain a mystery!

Is your car Z51? I wonder if it's eLSD related

The OnStar person did say "Your DCT looks fine, though."
