911 Owner: Just ordered a C7
Hi Folks,
I recently ordered a C7 (2LT, Z-51, Arctic White on Black), so excited, although I know it's going to take awhile before it's built.
I have long been a Porsche (911 specifically) enthusiast, and have an '87 Carrera 3.2 and an '05 911 Carrera S, pics below.
My friends were all very surprised by my decision to order a C7, but all have been totally supportive and enthusiastic. The C7 is the first Corvette I have ever even considered.
I have noticed that on my Porsche forums, everyone, unanimously, has respect for the C7, and thinks it's a fantastic sports car, and is eager to hear my reviews on it once mine arrives. Yet it seems like many on the Corvette forums deride Porsche, and their owners. I hope I can bridge that gap
I am 42 years old, and a Porsche owner, so from what I can tell I am most likely the kind of buyer that GM was hoping to woo with this new model. I hope you'll welcome me.

Welcome to the forum.
Congratulations on your purchase!
I have always have a great respect on Porsche but always find an excuse not to get one because it's a little bit "too" expensive for my blood
Great pictures of your Porsches, thank you for sharing!

Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to the family.
As you are a new arrival - if you are not familiar with "the wave", it's a tradition we hope you'll adopt, simple gesture to ANY passing Corvette in appreciation of the long history of the car and joint experience of ownership.
If you are not familiar with the American LeMans series (now Tudor United Sports Car Racing) the factory Corvette team will be racing the C7R starting in January at Sebring. While it will be a development year for the car, Corvette Racing is the winning-est team in the series history, and the C7R is sure to follow that tradition - so join in the fun!

I love that Red Carrera. Always wanted one like that. Ended up buying a GT Silver 2005 Carrera. It was a wonderful car. Now I have a C7. I happen to like it better than the Porsche. To each his own. Both are great cars.

Welcome. I am also new to forum since September. My c7 is at 3400 so hopefully soon. AW, z51, red int, MT, mrc, NPP. Sold my c4S 911 PDK. Drove my 07 GT3 to work today. Hate that scraping sound going up a ramp in my business parking garage but it's a consumable. I remember you from the Porsche forum when I think you had issues with a supercharged Porsche. Am I correct?

Yes, that was me. I supercharged the '05 to 530HP, and it was amazing, until after 2 years the engine exploded on the track at Barber in Alabama. It's got a new engine now, running wonderfully.
BTW, the red '87 has 130k miles on it, and the interior is as pristine as the exterior, I can post some pics if you like. The '05 has 75k miles on it.

Nice looking Carrera S with the wheels and the design on the the door panel. I had a 2003 996TT I replaced with an 08Z, and although the Porsche was nice, I liked the corvette better. From all reports, you're really gonna like the C7. Enjoy.

This forum has it's fair share of trolls, but there are plenty of real enthusiasts! It's always awesome to get the opinions of others, especially when they're rational and well articulated!

Welcome Catt-congrats on your order. I hope she comes in soon.
It's nice to hear the Porsche community likes and respects this new C7.

I was with Porsche and Audi (when they were together) from '75 to'83. Old friends are still reminding me of comments made back then while shifting through the North GA mountains like "I'll never have a Corvette" or "I'll never have a sports car with an automatic tranny". The only answer I have for them is we evolve as the cars evolve .
2200 miles and I'm only looking forward .
I have some fond memories of my '76 Guards Red 911 coupe (bought used in 85 and sold for a profit two years later). Almost same color combo as my Stingray .

Congrats you are the customer SRT wanted. Just did a Drive SRT event in the Atlanta area drove my new Vette there. SRT rep said they were going after the Porsche customers and dismissed my 14 Vette. After driving the new Viper he came over and sat in my Vette then said WOW!!!!! PS I'm the guy they wanted too!!!

Hi Folks,
I recently ordered a C7 (2LT, Z-51, Arctic White on Black), so excited, although I know it's going to take awhile before it's built.

I'm also a Porsche fan... came from a family of P-cars (dad had 2, bro had 1) and considered a pre-owned 997 Carrera S but the new Stingray is hands down the winner for me for the dollar. So maybe next time. Enjoy your C7 soon!
