Default 1LT lumbar support?

Greetings,

It's unlikely anyone can answer this, but it's worth a shot. I know the 1LT does not come with adjustable lumbar support as a feature, but does anyone know if the air bladder is installed?

There's a video that shows a cutaway of the new seats, and the air bladders for lumbar and side bolster support seem like really inexpensive pieces. I'm wondering if maybe they're in all the seats, but only the 2LT and 3LT seats have pumps for them? If the bladders are there, and a hose is available, it should be possible to use a manual squeeze ball if you really need the lumbar adjustment.

As you've probably guessed, I have a 1LT on order, and that's the only missing feature I'm afraid I might wish I had.

Cheers,
Rusty

Do not know on the C7. However, all it took was 3 mos of driving a 1LT C6 to convince me I'd screwed up.

My dad scrimped on much of his own comforts in order to provide for our family. He did this for pretty much of his life, however in the late 1970's, he decided to finally splurge on himself and buy the car of his dreams - a Datsun 240Z.

Bought it without power steering, without power brakes, without electric windows and door locks. He also didn't spring for the optional carpeting and instead went with the rubber mats...

Unfortunately, it's impossible to know from a brief test drive if the seats will be comfortable on longer trips, so I'm sure a lot of people find out too late. Back when I got my C6, the 2LT option was only $1100, so I got it just to be safe. For the C7, I just can't justify $4200 when that's the primary feature I want. Sure there's lots of other stuff, but nothing I care about really.

I plan to get the 1LT as well and the adjustable lumbar/bolster feature is the ONLY thing I am interested in on the 2LT. I am hoping that upgrading to Competition Seats would add this feature.

There is really nothing else included in the 2LT package that I am remotely interested in and it would suck to pay all that money for equipment that I'd rather not have.

LOL! So what is it you're trying to say

Seriously, that's not a great example, because the 1LT is a VERY generous package of features in my opinion. There are a couple things I'd like to have, like the lumbar support, and auto dimming mirrors, but life is full of compromises, and I'd prefer to spend the money on performance options.

Cheers,
Rusty

The C7 seats even in 1LT is a significant improvement over previous gens... no complaints here; it's perfectly fine including lumbar support and derrière comfort. Then again my BMI is 25.

Yeah, but I'll bet he had a great time with his 240Z anyway.

I'm looking at 1LTs starting around $50K, and while the upgrades to 2LT or 3LT are nice, I suspect that most of the pleasure of driving a C7 can be had with the base car. It's everyone's choice to make.

Seeing as how I'm encroaching 70 and, my s/o her mid 60's, the C7 is for long distance touring. For us, seating comfort is extremely important. Odds are this will be my last Corvette. Thus, I cannot risk any screw ups with the seating. I'll spend the extra money to insure our comfort.

I also like that the seats are heated/ventilated with the 2LT. And, to me, the heads up display is an added plus. Memory package too.

Unless the budget is tight( not the buyer being obsessively tight) or a specific purpose is intended, like lowest weight for track use etc, getting the 1LT is penny wise and pound foolish. Who ends up on the short end when one is cheap with themselves ? The cheapskate.

That's just crazy talk.

You would think this person is talking about a 1953 MG TD with no radio and heater.

I can't speak for the C7, but I've driven a number of cars that even with lumbar adjustment, the back support is still bad. It's not a guarantee your back will feel good. Based on the C7 owners manual, Chevy cheaped out a bit on the lumbar support. It has only one zone in and out adjustment, and has no up and down adjustment. In comparison, my prior C4 sport seats had three lumbar bladders, that could be contoured perfectly to the curvature of my back.
