why would you want them painted where you can't see it. And if they were painted on the wheel facing side after a few hundred miles they'd look like crap - they'd be sandblasted.
Although I will keep mine black, I think your's looks good.

I realize the side facing the wheel stays black plastic but for a pro bought unit it just looks amateuristic. I just think it would look better and easier to do as less taping.

All I would do is leave them black. They're almost invisible.
