Default GM Card earnings topped off today....I am not happy

At first I was excited...topped off from $1637.23 to $4000!...good til 2/28/14. Then I read the fine print....can't use any of it on C7 Stingray. I'm hoping this is another GM screw up. I've seen dozens of threads where new owners were allowed to apply up to 3000 points. I am guessing the program has changed until the 2nd quarter, which is still ok in my case. Heck, I could get one helluva deal on a Silverado! LOL

You can apply 3000 if you have your own EARNED 3000 points. Just the way it is - lucky to be able to use any points with the demand on this vehicle. I just redeemed ~1600 on my C7 purchase.

You can apply up to 3000 points, but only if you earned them. GM is not going to give you a bunch of bonus points on a car they can't make enough of.

I used 635 points, but only because I cleared out my balance in 2012 to buy the '13 427 convertible.

I hear ya, but the mailing doesn't state any of that. It says "excludes 2014 Chevrolet Stingray...blah, blah, blah", but it can be used on remaining 2013 Corvettes. It is good the EARNED points are usable....they just don't explain it very well. Thanks for easing my mind...

Did you really thing GM would apply the Top Off to a C7?

Might as well be mad that you can't get one for 3% back of invoice!

So every dollar spent on the card earns one point?

Capital one website mentions 5% and 2% savings which is confusing.

My capital one GM card(new one) was accrue 5% on purchases. So need to charge 60,000 to get 3,000 max eligible for the 2014 C7.

I tried doing that years ago on a Avalanche. They took some but not all points.
So went home and cancelled the card. Too many iffies on what qualifies. So took
out a different card that was more flexible.

I just got mine today, but only bumped up to 3000 from 2200.
And clearly states cannot be used on 2014 Corvette.

5% on first $5k spent per year, 2% on purchases thereafter per year. You earn the first $250 at 5%, anything purchased after the $5k limit is rewarded at 2%.

seems strange, how long have you had the card? My notice states, "Exclusively for Preferred Cardmembers". Not sure why I received that designation..all I did was go about my daily life of commerce.

The new new card has no limits and does not limit you to redemption allowances either. If you have a current card with points they'll only transfer 500 of them to the new card.

Yikes...that's gotta hurt. Were you able to use any points at all? This whole thing boils down to 'real' points, and 'fake' points; coupled with the end of the model year, or the end of a corvette generation.
